This Microsoft Excel spreadsheet lets you input and track groceries, or any purchase for that matter, but stability issues mar its performance.

Although Grocery Pricebook / Grocery Savings Spreadsheet offers empty drop-down menus, it's easy to add items through the drop-down list's tab. A Sample tab provides directions for how to use the program. The spreadsheet tracks purchase data such as the store name, total weight, quantity, price per weight, and price per count.

Unfortunately, it's missing key computation formulas for total expenses or average daily, weekly, and monthly expenses. Even worse, during testing, the program didn't always immediately respond to mouse movements. It also interfered with other running applications, and generally made our machines sluggish. All things considered, money-wise shoppers might want to take a chance with this spreadsheet, especially because it won't cost a dime.

A good idea but not worth the time or effort

The only thing I liked about this was it figured out the cost per item

This spreadsheet does not let you sort by category or item. It's not very user friendly
Summary
I am annoyed by the amount of unsolicited emails you get from the developer. Its a good concept, but I'm sure you can come up with a decent one yourself.
Not incredibly versatile, but okay for what it is.

Also, when you click on any category, it automatically inserts the current date, which is a big help when you input a whole grocery receipt.
