• Good simple program but not up to date.

  Quite simple to use. Very nice the way you can visualise the tree, makes navigation and building trees very easy. Very quick and easy to use.

  Cons

  This software has not been updated for many years, (since 2004 I think), so some users may have compatibility problems. The greatprogs.com website is still there, but i don't know how well supported it is.

  Summary

  A great program. When you first import a ged, or auto-arrange, it will seem messy,. But spend some time, on a tree layout that makes sense to you, will end up lost in any other software or website but this. You can export to ged, make notes, keep photos, most things you need. Note: You can put in same sex marriages, however entering siblings to that marriage is a little more tricky. I really wish there could be updates to this, or for it to be released public domain. It has the potential to be the best, but now its just too old.

  This company flat out discriminates against gay people on the basis that "same sex couples can't reproduce". They won't allow same sex couples to add their spouse!

  I am not sure how this is software for creating family tree. All the options are adding boxes with names and links towards other boxes. It does not put any meaning to it.

  It has the basics covered. Adding family members is easy as is linking them all together. <p> <p>Can add photos and create galleries for each person. <p> <p>Fully functional trial with good time limit.

  Cons

  The user interface is neither aesthetically pleasing (looks very dated) nor does it help with functionality. <p> <p>The way it lays out the family tree is very poor. Just looking at the example is enough to give you a headache. The boxes for each person are fine, it's the endless array of lines that's the problem. Instead of one line connecting parents and then another connecting children it has a line from each parent to every child! Very messy and not easy to look at, let alone work out 'who belongs to whom'. <p> <p>It lacks many features which other products provide making it a rather basic application. <p> <p>Navigation around the tree is somewhat annoying - there are arrow buttons on the screen that move the field of view, or there are the arrow keys. The addition of scroll bars would have helped.

  Pros

  It is easy and intuitive to use. It only took me a few seconds to figure out how to use it. It allows you to add photo slide shows of ancestors. It generates beautiful, fully functional web pages quickly.

  Cons

  The only downfall is it lacks the large volume of reports/books of other products. But if you want to share your history through webpages this is the product.
