Used GPG GUI for Windows?
Editors’ Review
Well, to cut right to the chase, not only is this free file encryption program missing a couple of key features, it also failed to decrypt our files.
The main user interface consists of a tiny window with a button for browsing files, and two buttons--one for encrypting the file, and another for decrypting it. There is a blank field that looks like it could be a place for entering a password, but without a Help feature, we couldn't get a definitive answer. We first browsed for the file that we wanted to encrypt. Once we had the file selected, we clicked on the encrypt button. We weren't asked for a password or given the opportunity to choose an encryption algorithm, but a DOS-style window appeared and seemed to confirm the encryption. The newly encrypted file appeared on our desktop, but the original file also remained since we were never given the option of deleting it. Using the same approach, we tried to decrypt the file, but the process didn't work.
Don't take a chance with this dud, it offers little choice for encryption and doesn't decrypt the files it creates. There are plenty of free and functional programs on the market. It cleanly uninstalled from our PC.
