Adjust the transparency of your active and inactive windows, taskbar, and desktop with this small application, which suffers from a minor performance glitch. Ghost-It places an icon on your system tray, with options to independently configure the transparency levels of your active window and inactive windows. It comes with a fade effect option and you can decide if you'd like a warning before the transparency of the taskbar and desktop are adjusted. We like that we can define a hot-key combination for activating the window under the cursor. Once you've made those choices, pick Ghost from the menu to put this freeware to work. To end the effect, select UnGhost or UnGhost All. In our tests, however, we had difficulty accessing the elements on our toolbar once its transparency faded. Despite that issue, users who often work with multiple windows should try this free tool for easy modification of windows' visibility.
It is a little hard to get used to working on one window with another in front!

Works very well. The one thing is that I seldom have a use for it.

I mostly use this to make my sticky notes transparent, as the program I use doesn't have that option...helps me copy information and notes without having to shrink/minimize windows or click from one desktop to another.
I found no spyware either.
way cool!

this little app is great for using with photoshop--especially if you, like me, don't have a gajillion by gajillion resolution monitor. i can "ghost" my layers and navigator windows so that they don't get in my way. and i don't have to keep moving and re-moving them, again and again as i work on different parts of the document. Plus you can configure Ghost-It to unghost your windows at the touch of a button/mouse hover (i used the tilde: "~"). definitely worth getting--and at just the right price.
perfect.

I used this program before on MyIM and nothing is wrong with it. for the person who said that it can create major problems by making ur desktop transparent: its not teh program's fault. Ghost-It warns you taht it can create problems if u do tranparent ur desktop, but apparently u ignored it and messed up ur CPU. you only have urself to blame.
Works perfectly, without a hitch

Despite the prior review, there is no spyware to be found. Be logical! It's only 10 kilobytes ... and for the paranoid people, I personally checked it under the Visual Studio Dependency tracer ... no winsock or related DLLs came up :) It's a cool program. Try it with Winamp AVS over your taskbar. A subtle and yet cool effect. (For those of you with hot graphics card and screaming CPU, overlap your whole screen with the AVS window... LOL)
THIS SUCKS!!!!!

Turn windows into ghost windows you can see and click through.Ghost-It runs in the system tray, and lets you turn windows into ghost windows. A ghost window is translucent and will always appear on top of other windows. When a ghost window loses the input focus, it remains translucent and always on top, but all clicks will pass right through it like it wasn't even there--until it becomes the active window again, either by clicking on the window's taskbar icon, or by pressing a user-defined hot key. You can configure the translucency levels of both active and inactive ghost windows, along with the hot key used to activate a window.
