  This review is for the Personal Version only. Note that I have been using this program to track investments for over a decade, and I only use the most basic functions. 1. Outstanding support and updates 2. Ease of use, yet powerful 3. Flexible 4. Great access to download whatever info needed from federal and private investment institutions

  Cons

  Only wish is that the personal version allowed reconciliation of all subportfolios with one click (as in the professional version), rather than having to do them separately.

  Summary

  After a decade+ of use as a low-level personal investor who uses this to track personal investments only (nothing fancy): If you are thinking of buying a "big box" investment software package, you would be making a mistake to overlook this product. 1. Excellent support: Mr. Beiley responds promptly to inquiries regarding technical or other issues. Online information is frequently updated and plentiful. If there is a new source of data needing to be incorporated and there is evidence of sufficient need, he will add support, as he did with the federal employees payment system for retirement, TSP (Thrift Savings Program). Updates to download modules are done regularly to ensure access to downloading from online Investment Centers, such as T Rowe, Vanguard, and Fidelity. 2. Ease of Use: A bit of a learning curve to get it set up exactly how you want, but presentation is excellent, with a range of graphs and styles of presentation to enable investment allocation the way you want to target it. I am still learning new tricks after 10 years, just because I didn't have time at first to explore all the options, nor did I know all the financial terms to explore all the functions 3. Compatibility with all investment centers, including federal sites, for automatic updates and downloads 4. Flexibility to include all kinds of investments, from mutual funds, to stocks, to your checking account. Note that it does not have a checking account ledger system in it.

• Best portfolio software I have found over many years

  Pros

  Many similar products do not work properly for UK users. This is the best and most reliable. There are regular updates. Easy to progam in personal analyses.

  Cons

  Graphs do the job well but do not look all that modern. Maybe a choice of skins ?

  Summary

  Many years ago used to use Microsoft Money. Since it stopped Fund Manager is now the best portfolio software I have found and so have used it for years. The options for UK users are not great but this works well. It has the benefit that there is always a copy of my data on my machine - I prefer things this way.

  Pros

  I can't say enough good things about your company and your software. The software is reasonably priced, contains every feature I could ever want, the downloads of updates are quick, and the support is excellent. And unlike other software, newly installed updates don't cause other, seemingly non-related problems, which is more than I can say for Microsoft or QuickBooks.

  Cons

  None that I have found in the 5 years I have been using the software.

  Pros

  Handles all my diverse investments at different brokerages and gives me ROI/Yield on each portfolio and broker so I can make direct comparisons as to which broker is doing the best for me. Main reports for me are Yields for each of the sub-portfolios at each of the brokerage houses for 1 mo, 6 mo, 9 mo, 1 yr, 3 yr, 5 yr.

  Cons

  Learning curve on what "little" that you need to do to be up and running. Best advise is on first setup - accept the defaults, don't try to make changes and see how everything works - then get creative.

  Summary

  This product was outstanding 10 years ago when I "found" it, and just keeps getting better with each release. I just upgraded to 2016 - You will not be disappointed. New youtube videos are very helpful. Even this 10 year user went back and learned a lot of things that I never knew. Great support from vendor - needed "help" two times in the last 10 years and response was fast.

  Pros

  Handles tracking my retirement investments, including obscure cases (like tracking individual lots). Phenomenal support through their web site. Actively developed and continues to improve. Easy download of prices and transactions. You can organize your investments in any way that makes sense to you, and you can have more than one organization for different purposes. Your financial information is on your machine, not somewhere in the cloud.

  Cons

  Getting comfortable with how Fund Manager works takes a bit of learning. There are good tutorials and help on the web site, but it's not a "hand holding" type of program.

  Summary

  I needed a program to track mutual funds in 401(k)s, IRA, etc. I already went through three - two of them (Mind your Money and Microsoft Money) were dropped by their manufacturer, and I wasn't willing to deal with limitations of the third (Quicken). Most of the other programs I looked at were really household budget with some, inadequate, investment tracking. Then I found Fund Manager, and I've been a happy customer ever since. Tracking investments is what Fund Manager is all about, not an afterthought. The price is great, and it does just about whatever I need. Early versions had limitations that I was willing to deal with, and later versions filled in the gaps. The latest version, 2014, is downright amazing. If you have any questions or suggestions, post it on the discussion board and you will get a thoughtful, knowledgeable answer amazingly quickly. (Does Mark ever sleep?) Suggestions *ARE* listened to. If you're trying to track stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and such, Fund Manager is a great choice.

• Outstanding tracker for investments

  Pros

  I've been using Fund Manager for over a decade. It continues to grow, optionally recording a mind-boggling number of details about each investment and creating an equally mind-boggling set of calculated values to track your results, yet without becoming cumbersome (ignore the extras with little difficulty). Links to a variety of online quote services as well as all major brokerage firms make it simple to download both quotes and your individual transactions, minimizing the need for manual entry. Rate of return calculations and graphs are incredibly quick even with 20 years of daily prices. Almost everything about the display and reporting is customizable. High-end versions for professional traders (including real-time quote monitoring) and investment advisors are available. Author is responsive to requests for new features.

  Cons

  Manually entered transactions get share amounts calculated to 6 decimal places, though I've never seen a fund use more than 3. Fixing it is a nuisance, but minor. No way to get multiple windows to automatically resize (enlarging one shrinks the other).

  Summary

  Reasonably priced, extremely versatile software for managing stock, bond, and mutual fund investments.

• Excellent Investment Tracker and Flexible Reports

  The program is very comprehensive. Allows tracking of holdings at a multitude of brokerage firms and funds in one place. Automatically downloads data from each one. Lots of reports with many options.

  Cons

  Can take a while to figure out all the features

  Summary

  Serious tool for keeping track of all your investments from multiple sources in one place. Great for analyzing and see how well you are doing.

  Pros

  Great software for learning about investing and portfolio management. Super-helpful staff at publisher's website (support forum). Solid software; bugs have mostly been ironed out over 10 years. Highly-customizable. Excellent design and continually modified as new features are added. Great free-trial allows users to become well acquainted with Fund Manager.

  Cons

  Personal Version has serious functional restrictions. Users are forced to update every year or two or lose functionality. Expensive: for some essential features you will need Adviser or Professional versions and those are $$$$. USA-centric. American brokers supported; others, not so much. Should be other versions for other countries.

  Summary

  Amazing bit of software but the Personal Version limitations will leave a serious investor frustrated. Personal Version will not download stock distributions (if you are serious about investing you need these!)<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Dec 28, 2012<p/>Wanted to add that forced updates mentioned above cost money.

• Difficult to import data

  Pros

  Looks like a nice interface, never really got my data in so I could try it

  Cons

  Automatic download from online accounts will not pick up historical transactions for securities not currently owned, at least not in the case of my mutual fund company (TRP). This data is available online from the website and can be downloaded in an Excel file, so the problem seems to be with the program and not with the website. I tried to import these using the "import" function from an Excel spreadsheet, but this operation is very buggy. Never succeeded in getting more than 10% of the historical transactions in my spreadsheet imported in spite of spending several hours in the attempt.

  Summary

  Great potential, but seems to me to be essentially a beta test version.
