• Fast command line checksum utility

  Fast. Command line - no sluggish GUI to suck up resources (and crush your soul).

  Cons

  Microsoft doesn't include it with Windows.

  Does all kinds of checksums - I like tiger. Microsoft 'fc' was part of DOS 1.0 and is still part of W7, but it always was slow. Copy fsum.exe to %windir%\system32. Winkey-R 'cmd' fsum -tiger file1 file2 or fsum -tiger [wildcard] Much faster than 'fc file1 file2' or "fc [wildcard]'

  Pros

  I have had Fsum on my PC for years now; but, I've never taken the time to find out what it's supposed to do. So; my review is rather useless.

  Cons

  As with other software; it is beyond my mental capacity to understand many of their functions, how they process and what other programs they associate with. I am 57 years old retired living on disability and realizing why my parents never took their new VCR out of the box when we gave it to them. Past 50, one seems to tire of learning new complicated applications.

  Pros

  There is a windows GUI here: sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=192266<p>You can use this GUI to calculate the hashes, check SFV and MD5, generate SFV and MD5, add the hash at the end of the file name.

  Cons

  It's a command line utility. A beginner need a gui.

  Very small, fast and does not need installing. <p>There is a Windows GUI for this. <p>Type FSUM GUI into Google and it is at the top.

  - It can't check directly files in other folders. You have to pass the path as an argument. <p>- It doesn't have a GUI.

  Supports 12 formats of checksums, large files (up to 5 GB), extended checksum files

  Thought its very usefull, we have to type again cmd in run and work fom there, this is major problem.
