This simple, free program monitors RAM and CPU usage in real time. You can choose to run FreeMeter at start-up so you can monitor your system at all times, or just run it when you want. Upon launch, two graphs tick by, measuring your CPU usage and your current disk usage. You also can see the amount of RAM in use, how much you have left, and the total amount. The page-file readout offers similar information. The RAM analysis is particularly useful for people who need to run several applications at once. We liked being able to see how specific actions affected system resources. We also liked the small, configurable meters the program can place in the system tray, which tell you at a glance how many resources you're using at that moment. FreeMeter works well for people who need to monitor their limited resources while using several programs at once.

It may be good for win xp or vista (didn't try it on those two)

I have 8 gb of memory installed but only shows 4 Gb and I have 4 core cpu but it only shows 2

Helpful information with real-time graphing and performance charting.
Cons
Outdated visuals, a "jumbled" layout that can be a little confusing, the information available is not hard to find using other programs or even basic sidebar widgets which give better and more aesthetically pleasing data/visuals.
Summary
Honestly, I was hoping for a little more. I run Windows 7 right now and this is something that I would expect of XP (well, just look at the operating system description). I will probably install this soon :(

Gives RAM,CPU and Page file sizes at a glance. So you dont have to hover over icon or open other pages to see the results.

This is only one out of several that i've found so far that does what I wanted (a small meter in the system tray) your choice of how many cpu, mem, internet and hd to be displayed. Go to hexagora.com for this new version.

i have tried a bunch of these types of system metering tools. this one is the best i've found - at least for those of us who are semi-literate in computers, but not gurus.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Jan 24, 2009<p/>also, meant to say that i have installed on 64-bit windows vista with no obvious problems.

It's a very good program especially for older systems.

If you have more than two gigabytes of RAM, it will only measure the two, I have 3GB and it only measures two.
