Foxit Reader Portable lets you open, view, and mark up files in PDF format, and since it's portable, you can take it with you wherever you go. The smooth interface should be comfortable for all experience levels.

Pros

Stamps and other tools: When you're working on a PDF in Foxit Reader Portable, you have quite a few tools at your disposal. For instance, you can quickly add comments and notes, mark up the document with the pencil, and even add stamps.

Print and Export options: When you're done reviewing your documents, you have several options for exporting and sharing. You can save your updated document in either PDF or TXT format, and you can also resize and print the document with all formatting intact if you need a hard copy of the file.

Cons

Add-on features: There are quite a few features available for Foxit Reader Portable that do have to be downloaded separately as plugins. Some of these include Spell Checker, Firefix Plugins, and Eastern Asian Language Support.

Bottom Line

Foxit Reader Portable is a good option if you need to review, mark up, and print PDFs. While it doesn't allow direct editing of the contents of the file, the markup tools provided let you include your thoughts and comments, so you can share them with the rest of your team. The need to download some features separately seems like an unnecessarily complicated process, but it doesn't have to be a huge drawback, especially if you don't intend to use those particular features.

Good layout, very easy to learn. Excellent functions - snapshot copies at a very good resolution. Files are opened as tabs, so you can easily change between files without closing. Same menu customising options as MS word etc Selection of text can be for paragraphs or as a box - very useful

A fairly quick reader that has all of the functionality that is generally needed. Allows resizing and printing, works easily.
Cons
BEWARE WHEN INSTALLING -- there are 3 addons on the initial page that have to be deselected (according to other reviews they are very messy to uninstall).

I liked Foxit before, and after this cnet sponsored (or created) disaster I went to Foxit site and installed regular version from there. It works fine. I used to love download.cnet, but will look elsewhere now- unfortunately, this is not isolated example.

Pros
Windows 8 compatible. Has all the features of its competitor and looks nicer and easier to use. It has a contents, chapters pane with the ability to bookmark places - which you can hide. It effortlessly allows for page scrolling and does what CNet's review said it does. It is much more lightweight than the other one.
Cons
For me there isn't any with the Reader itself. But I didn't like the 'Registration' option which required way too many details.
Summary
Foxit Reader is a good and just as worthy alternative. After trying a few I knew I'd end up with this one as the others simply lacked too many features. The Registration is geared much more towards Business users I believe. Foxit Reader Portable is compatible with Windows 8, works well and is much better than Win8's own Reader so Foxit has been set to Default. Try it.

Stick with an old and better version.
Cons
If you don't deselect three boxes during the installation, you are stuck with a new browser, new start page, stupid emoticons. Beware!
