  useful and easy to use. open a file from the file >open with, through the interface, or drag and drop. converts between many different video and audio file types, making compatibility problems vanish and making it easy to get the audio track from a video file. recommended for anyone who plays around with media files on his computer.

  Converted a .avi.flv to mp4 with sound that plays on a Chromebook, when I couldn't get vlc to do it.

  Pros

  FLV Crunch is a fantastic, uncluttered tool that does exactly what it is meant to do: provide an easy-to-learn interface to convert virtually any video file into almost any other video file (I believe Web Movies are the only kind of file I did not see support fot). The process is streamlined enough for the novice user, but the advanced technophiles looking for greater customization options will find it here.

  Cons

  As I mentioned, the WebM videos seem incompatible (but that is, of course, just one format in many).

  Summary

  In short, almost every format of video can be easily and intuitively remade into any other format--with a depth of customization options when it comes to output quality--making this a fantastic tool for an amazing price: FREE.

  Does exactly what it says, audio, video - and outputs in nearly every format. Very simple, and where do I send my donation? Output is flawless.

  Can be slow, but depends on file types, and slow=quality.

  I would pay for this application. I can not tell you how many BS apps I have downloaded from CNET in the last 14 years that have just turned out to be pure trash. This thing is a full fledged utility workhorse, and they should be charging for it. Leave a comment where to send the money and I will send it.

  Pros

  Plays all kinds of video files. Lots of different conversion options. Performs good-looking exports. And it's free!

  Cons

  The "Remove" button doesn't seem to work when you want to remove a file from the list of source files to be converted. This can be a problem if you accidentally put the wrong file in the list and want to delete it. The workaround is to quit FLV Crunch, re-start it with an empty source files box, and repopulate the box with the files you do want to convert.

  Summary

  My compliments to the creator. I had two files downloaded from the internet which had an odd problem. In QuickTime, Movist, MPEG Streamclip and other programs, the two clips played for five minutes each -- but in VLC they turned out to be 30 minutes long each! I wanted to export them to another file format so I could play them in QuickTime or any other program for the full 30 minutes -- but of course VLC doesn't do file-to-file conversions. I tried all kinds of other programs. FLV Crunch was the first and only app that would both play the full movies and export them to another format as well. I converted my two files to .mp4s, and they look great. Many thanks!
