VideoGlide by EchoFX is a software program designed for capturing, recording, and streaming high-quality video from desktops and connected devices. The program supports NTSC at 29.97 frames per second and PAL at 25 frames per second, with a maximum frame size of 640 x 480. It emphasizes stable performance and accurate video and audio synchronization.

The software delivers excellent video quality with brighter colors and improved contrast compared to standard DV captures. Users can efficiently manage storage, as uncompressed YUV video uses 66.5 GB per hour, while JPEG compression requires just 3 GB. VideoGlide also captures still images at 640 × 480 resolution.

Stable video capture with efficient storage

VideoGlide supports high-quality video capture with precise audio synchronization, even during long recording sessions. The program allows users to record at NTSC (29.97 fps) or PAL (25 fps) with a maximum frame size of 640 x 480. Its live preview and recording interface are designed for both beginners and experienced users, ensuring stable performance for desktops, webcams, or external devices.

The software provides efficient storage management, balancing quality and file size. Uncompressed YUV video requires about 66.5 GB per hour, while JPEG compression reduces it to roughly 3 GB per hour without significant loss of quality. It also supports capturing still images at 640 x 480 resolution and direct export or streaming. However, it is not suitable for complex post-production tasks, which can limit its usefulness for advanced editing needs.

It is important to note that the program is officially deprecated and will not work on macOS 10.15 or later. This limitation is due to its reliance on Apple’s 32-bit QuickTime architecture, which was removed in macOS 10.15. Users must run it on macOS 10.14 or earlier. While the software lacks advanced editing features, it prioritizes stable recording, accurate synchronization, and efficient storage for reliable video capture.

Its accurate video/audio synchronization, excellent color and contrast, and flexible storage options make it ideal for professional recording sessions or educational content creation. • Daystar ProView USB,
  • Pinnacle Dazzle DVC-90
  • Grabee X,
  • V-Stream Xpert DVD Maker,
  • LinXcel Video Grabber,
  • plus many similar devices.
A number of devices containing TV Tuners are also supported, however, only the video inputs are supported, not the tuners themselves. To determine if a given device is supported, install the software and run /Applications/VideoGlide Capture. If you are asked for a serial number, then the device is recognized and will probably work. To be sure, click "Cancel" and proceed in demonstration mode. If you can see and capture video, then the device is supported. Audio support is available for VideoGlide devices that have audio inputs.
