It had to come to this, didn't it? You can't trust yourself to stay away from Facebook long enough to get any work done before lunch. And don't get us started on YouTube. We mean that: don't get us started on YouTube. Hours vanish. So you're thinking about software that blocks Facebook and YouTube at specific times because something must stop the madness. That's where FB Limiter from AxiomCoders enters the scene. This free tool prevents users from accessing Facebook, YouTube, or both. Your password controls access. You can keep your kids from going on Facebook until their homework is done, or your employees from killing your time. You can even use it on yourself, if you're willing to let FB Limiter make you do it.

Installing FB Limiter includes a free registration step that involves creating a password and choosing a secret question, though you can also click Skip. The installer also recommends closing and restarting any open browsers. FB Limiter is based on a premium tool, FB Limiter Pro, and the user interface includes tools unavailable in the freeware. The free version offers the Total Lock but not the Normal, Time, and Duration Lock features. Basically, the freeware lets you block either Facebook or YouTube for predetermined periods ranging from 1 hour to seven days. The site remains blocked until the time expires and can't be undone, according to a pop-up warning message, so we opted to block Facebook for 1 hour. Another pop-up warned us that FB Limiter can't be uninstalled during the blocking period (which thwarts clever kids!). We clicked Yes and then tried to access Facebook. Here's where things got a bit strange: FB Limiter blocked access in 32-bit Windows 7 but not on our 64-bit Windows 7 machine. Even with both Total Locks activated, we could still sign in to Facebook and play videos on YouTube in IE, Chrome, Firefox, and other browsers in 64-bit Windows, though we'd restarted our browsers and even rebooted.

Here's the bottom line on FB Limiter's basic version: It's free. If you think you need it, try it. You have nothing to lose except your distractions.

Version 1.6 fixed problem which caused browsers to crash sometimes while wathcing videos and enhance where browsing speed is increased while having any lock active.

Slows down my PC and won't let me remove it....

NONE that I can see. It slows your work on your computer up. Makes life harder. No wins here.

It's slows down PC and bandwidth. It's not a helpful product. Won't let your remove it, tricks you, when you decide to block a site for a 7 hrs or a week, until that time expires your stuck with this PC slowing software.
Summary
It is a software that's hampering my work, due to it's PC slowing work. DON'T recommend it.

I had a few assignments due that I wanted to work on, so I installed this and blocked Facebook for 1 week. The program then also blocked EVERY SINGLE journal database I tried to gain access to. I tried to remove it, but of course you can't - a good idea in practice (so you can't bypass your Facebook block), but a bad idea when the reality is that the program prevented me from being able to do any work on my assignments. Information on the companies website tried to sell me a program to remove this program - so I wonder if their intention is that most people will decide they will want to unblock Facebook before the limit is up, and purchase their uninstall program? I tried relentlessly to unintall this program, until finally the internet on my computer just completely stopped working whatsoever; so I had to reformat and reinstall Windows.

It will block Facebook alright- watertight lock that you will not be able to circumvent, guaranteed

It will totally ruin your computer! I do not even know where to start! 1) Internet keeps crashing; 2) your computer slows down to a crawl, 3) your outlook will not working, 4)other essential websites will become problematic. In my case, my university website where I log on to get journal articles to write my dissertation suddenly start giving error messages...I can give at least 5 more issues that has arisen since installing this computer, but you get the picture. Do yourself a HUGE favour by avoiding this program.

While installed it does block Facebook for the time specified.
Cons
It will slow your computer down so much. Internet pages will take 10x longer to load, or will crash in the process of loading. Your whole computer will become sluggish. It is near impossible to install normally. I only managed thanks to an older review on this site.
Summary
Save yourself a lot of trouble and don't install this. Try to limit yourself. I of course installed this right in the middle of doing coursework for uni, and instead of helping me get work done, it made everything so much more difficult.

None really, just have more self control when using facebook.
Cons
After half an hour of installing this software it began to slow down Chrome to the point of crashing it. Other websites wouldnt load, the rest of the system started to behave strangely, getting slower and slower. Chrome and Firefox stopped working completely. This program is locked so that it cannot be uninstalled.
Summary
Do not download!!! The only way I found to get this off the computer was to do a system restore. Fortunately the restore point was before I downloaded this program.

was easy to install and thank god, to uninstall the idea is very good and the interface is clear.

was not working properly on my 64bit system : fb was not completely blocked for a starter ( i could still see the top of the page, but couldnt browse ). then the whole computer behaved strangely during the day : couldnt open easily gmail, couldnt open several windows on chrome. i was foolish enough to set a block of 8 hours straight, and that was looong !

not working properly ( yet ), but nice idea. much more work to do to make it work though, this seems to be a beta version on my 64bit system
