Fast Folder Eraser is an application that allows you to quickly delete folders with a large number of files. If you have ever tried to delete a large folder structure with thousands of files, you probably noticed that Windows can take some time to completely delete the folder structure. Fast Folder Eraser can do the same and the files are not sent to the recycle bin, but are deleted directly. It features quickly delete folders with a large number of files, statistics on the deletion process (single folder only), displays statistics (faster deletion), and reduces memory usage (slower deletion).

Does what it says though maybe not so much in the developers description as far as time goes. Beats waiting for win GUI to delete or rmdir, del, rd etc from a command prompt. From what I can tell this just bypasses Window's need to constantly check for file contents and index everything. Good stuff as that's what causes the delay.
Cons
GUI leaves something to be desired...don't be fooled by the occasional 'Not responding', or the first run instant delete(?). Just run it (the second time) and let it do it's thing...remember we are deleting thousands or hundreds of thousands of files and the basedir.
Summary
I'm deleting ~7GB of files numbering around 800 thousand right now as we speak and it's plugging along. Granted the GUI window states "Not Responding" but I don't believe that. So I have a command prompt open to verify there's progress and like I say its plugging along at what appears to be ~10-15X faster than any other native windows option. I like it. Mileage will vary, of course depending on filesize and type...but it's clearing out a bloated (albeit infected) user's temporary internet files directory that Windows Server with plenty-o-resources can barely render much less handle a right click. As for the *nix analogy...apples and oranges...this is no less efficient than rm -rf for the amount of files I'm talking about...win users don't have the fast option for doing this as stated because rd, rmdir, del, deltree think they need to check everything. Agreed "Windows works differently" ...but you can also rock better games. No need for an OS war...just saying for a good windows bulk delete this is now in my toolbox. Thanks alot dev. saving me some time. Would have given 5 stars except for the GUI glitches...but honestly when hooking shell for doing add/move/change/delete you're still at the mercy of the OS in many regards. So It's to be expected. still plugging away now at an empty k* thanks again.

The name implies it will work faster than issuing a "del" command from the CLI, or SHIFT-DEL in the GUI. It does not.
Summary
Coming from a *nix background, I'm accustomed to telling the system I want a file or directory gone, hitting enter, and it's gone. Poof. Delete. Windows works differently and uses some sort of process to individually list and delete each file one at a time. Rather senseless architecture IMO. So I was encouraged that perhaps some clever programmer had come up with a way to simply prune off entire directories at a time. If that has happened, it's with a product unrelated to this one. It removes folders, alright. But it does so no faster (indeed, it appears slower) than running a simple "del" command from the Command Line. Rename the product "Folder Eraser" and then maybe you've got something. Sorry to bag on your work, but this just is not very useful. For now I remain disappointed.

Nothing positive about it. The MS command line [rmdir /s/q "foldername"] is much superior than this piece of junk.
