This lookup tool helps solve the mystery of Windows error message codes, but its design leaves something to be desired. Simply enter the code number, and Error Message for Windows will display its description. You also can view the entire list of codes, numbering 0 to 10,112, which we like. Descriptions are brief, however, and novice users may need more information than this program provides to understand what failed. The design flaws are the program's biggest downfall. To begin, its window can't be resized and longer messages can only be read with the lookup tool. Additionally, the misleading Print button only displays the list in HTML format, with no print options found on the page. Even the freeware status doesn't give this application an edge in the market. Other no-cost lookup utilities we've seen offer the same basic features, but offer a more user-friendly design, and we suggest users pass on Error Message for Windows.

Pros
There have been many times in the past that I have wanted to know what a particular error number meant. "Error Messages For Windows 2.9" answers that need! Just type in the error number and an explanation of it appears. It's a great little program and it's 100% free!
