• Crummy and unreliable, poor support

  Pretty looking. Fast at what it does, which isn't all that much

  Cons

  1. No U.S. address, no phone contact, poor response to posts on support forum 2. Client uses same system resources as Windows Live Mail; 1.5 gigs on my Windows 7 computer w new Windows install. 3. Much vaunted search can look only for email addresses, Windows Live Mail's search can do far more. 4. Interface not intuitive, features hard to find. 5. Mail is downloaded 1st to their servers, then as you wish to your computer. Violation of privacy and business security. If they go out of business, $50 lifetime use of program is unusable. 6. Every day for many hours their server can't reach some of my email providers. 7. No way to control OR KNOW where it puts backup of database 8. Database is corrupted easily and often, eg if computer freezes or crashes w mail client open. Recourse is file a ticket w customer service. Lots of posts about it on forum. 9. Emails stored in databases not separately in eml format like Windows Live Mail, impossible to rescue or retrieve.

  Summary

  It's really hard to see how any software could have more seriously wrong with it.

• Good feature set, poor execution at least with Exchange

  Pros

  This is a pretty full featured email application, easy to set up.

  Cons

  It simply can't handle a large exchange database - locks up or gets slow at least once a day. It's color schemes are limited and none of them look good in my opinion.

  Summary

  Used this for a year - moving to Mailbird with appears to be much simpler and nimbler.

• THE shittiest mail client I've ever used!!

  Pros

  Nice at first, but what happened to me is absolute horror.

  Cons

  This email client and the company that made it are the shittiest ever. This software is WAY too susceptible to database corruption. Every time you shut down your computer while eM Client is running it will have to check the database and sometimes even repair it. I read that running computer backup software might make your database corrupt, and a couple of days ago a windows update made my eM Client crash. Result: database corrupt and irreparable. I had potentially lost 3 years of work emails and hundreds of contacts. When I contacted eM Client support they gave me the shittiest customer support answer I have ever seen in my life: "Well, from the log it is clear that the database got corrupted by 3rd party application thus I cannot provide you with any solution, I am very sorry. " Whaaaaaaaatttt??? So because a 3rd party application (Windows Update) made eM Client crash you cannot help me??? Not our fault so live with it and f...ck off?

  Summary

  Luckily after LOTS of browsing on the internet I found a solution from another user who had experienced the same thing and found a fix. It was the easiest fix ever, but customer support couldn't even be bothered to help me because it was a 3rd party application that made eM client crash!! How is that for customer support, and for a company that is trying to present their product as perfect for business users?? If I hadn't been able to recover my emails this would have damaged me financially!! Bye bye eM Client, I am leaving you and I'm never looking back!! I hope I convinced some other potential users to look away as well!!

  But I haven't found the way to migrate my folders, contacts, etc, so I'm out $50, and locked in to them.

  Pros

  Multiple accounts... faster sorting than browser clients such as gmail.

  Cons

  Horrible... I mean horrible ability to mark email as spam. Spammers have gotten tricky... sending things in languages like Finnish... they change the domain EVERY time. The em client does not allow a making of a domain... so even though you mark an email and/or a domain as spam... they change it... emaple is: all email is coming from baddomain.nz... they'll mark it #@FSDF#343.baddomain.nz... next time it will be from SDF$#%#SDFSsdkjfhsoiu.baddomain.nz... the eM client does all ow you to mark *.baddomain.nz as bad. You also can't create a rule from an email message. This is a big issue... and one that has me looking for another client.

  Summary

  If eM would allow for more robust spam filtering... I would rate this client as 5 stars... until then I will look for another client.

• Good-looking, but...

  Pros

  This is about eM Client 7.0 Pro, on a Win 7 Pro PC. Installation went smoothly, as went the import of several thousands of mails from 8 accounts. eMC's widget got accurately the connection settings for my mail servers and set them for IMAP and SMTP. GUI is pleasant, uncluttered and light.

  Cons

  After a few days' use, I began getting a slowly growing number of 'ghost' or 'phantom' messages (i.e. DELETED messages still showing there, as well in the 'Smart Folders' as in accounts' Trash & Junk folders). A check showed that they were NO MORE in the servers' folders: so, IMHO, the bug should be in the client.

  Summary

  Besides, eMC 7 does not store mail as files in folders & sub-folders, but as 'data' bulks. While this might quicken searches, it makes recovery of data only possible 1) if your version of eMC is at hand 2) AND working, and 3) if you have regular backups equally at hand (preferably, on another device). This something to ponder about. I gave up the trial.

• Good program that integrates multiple email accounts

  Pros

  I tried this program to consolidate multiple email accounts (gmail, hotmail, etc) into an integrated interface and it works very well, saving me time to check multiple sites. It integrates with gmail smoothly and provides calendar, chat, tasks and mail in a consolidated place.

  Cons

  Search could be improved.

  Summary

  Overall, solid program.

• Excellent Program, Tried Them All & Chose eM Client

  Pros

  Clean interface, works with Gmail flawlessly, does everything I need. Good technical support on forum and, for Pro users, on an individual basis. I purchased the Pro version to support development.

  Cons

  Need to store distribution lists in "Local Folders," not in your Gmail account.

  Summary

  Try it, it's free. In my experience, it's the best desktop client for Gmail.

• Grateful for an alternative to Outlook but disappointed

  Pros

  An alternative to Outlook, which crashed my computer; Duplicate message remover

  Cons

  Horrible search function; Does not sync with iPhone unless using an online calendar like Google Calendar; Responsive tech support before the sale but NOT after; Calendar items did not transfer accurately from Outlook

  Summary

  eM Client was the best alternative to Outlook that I could find and I am grateful to have it. But overall I am not as happy with this product as I had expected to be. The search function is awful, very slow and inaccurate. Calendar items all transferred from Outlook to the first day of the corresponding month in eM Client. I had to start using an online calendar to make calendar entries because entries into eM Client would not sync to my iPhone. I did purchase eM Client. Tech support after the trial period has been non-responsive.
