Ambitious but inconvenient, eDocPlus fails to improve on Windows' native file-management options. The initial process of organizing files is time-consuming: you must create new folders within eDocPlus's arbitrary Documents or Images categories, then import your files from your PC or scanner. The search feature doesn't best the standard Windows version, and you won't find support for comments or keywords. Image thumbnails are helpful, but you cannot view the files full-size, and other file types cannot be displayed at all. Few will find eDocPlus a complete solution.

Just what i want: let's you catagorize files and folders and lets you decide whether you want to move, copy or just link files.

I had no problem installing and then importing all documents from my existing "My Documents" folders to give this program an initial try. After just a few minutes of getting to know it, I felt relatively comfortable with it. It was then, however, that I encountered what I see as its major limitation. I wanted it to index all the words in all the documents I just imported so that I could then do some truly powerful searching. No such luck. It appears as though you HAVE to assign a keyword to each document in either user definable fields or a keyword field. This would be tedious and still not leave one with all words in all documents indexed. With this limitation, unfortunately, I intend to continue with Paperport and uninstall eDocsPlus. PS: I think this program is much more useful for handling non-text intensive chores, such as cataloging (with preview capability) of images, such as photos!

Very easy to use and intuitive software. It has the look and feel of Windows explorer, but does a lot more. I imported all my existing documents very easily, within 2 clicks I imported complete Windows folders. I can search and retrieve now within thousands documents in just a few seconds. Great browser with thumbnails. It has a complete database with user definable fields and a lot more. Two thumbs Up !!
