EasyDeskTicker displays RSS news feeds, stock quotes or custom messages as a flicker-free ticker bar on the desktop. It docks to the top or bottom of the screen and displays news as a scrolling line, as known from TV stations. Headlines are constantly updated, one click and the full article is opened in your web browser. The program is highly customizable: RSS feeds, fonts, sizes, colors, speed, position and more! It optionally stays above other windows or can resize the desktop, so that no other application is overlapped.

Messes up the screen and slows my machine.

Pros
Good looking ticker line, moves smoothly, easily change foreground/background colors, font size and scroll speed. Plenty of sources to pick from for the news feeds.
Cons
I keep my task bar at the top of my page, this program moved things on the task bar so they don't line up anymore. There is a definite 'flicker' effect. Didn't run a CPU use meter, but suspect this uses a lot of available cycle time.
Summary
When ever I have to start up, other then just wake it up, one of early moves is to disable this program. It might be a setting needs to be adjusted, but I haven't spent the time to figure it out. Wanted something kind of like the news ticker that was on my Earth-link toolbar. That one doesn't work well with the broadband and Windows 7 setup I have, so I don't run it. Was only using it for the news ticker, so I was looking to replace it. I "Might" take the time to try and figure out what is wrong, but then again, I might not. All in all, will probably uninstall this over the weekend.
