This very basic program makes it handy to see what's in Internet Explorer's cache, but that's about the extent of its powers. The interface is simple, if inelegant, and points at IE's default cache location by default. Once you hit OK, the program displays full URLs of cached files and allows you to quickly launch them in IE. You get a tool for exporting the file list in Excel, text, or HTML formats, but that's clearly this program's most notable feature; it won't even delete the Web-surfing traces it finds. Cache Reader for Internet Explorer 5 does what it promises, but we doubt most average users will find it particularly useful.

Developer’s Description

List temporary files cached by Internet Explorer.
Cache Reader reads the index.dat file in the Temporary Internet Files (TIF) folder of Internet Explorer or in any other folder selected and presents data as a synoptic table, either in chronological or alphabetical order. It shows the URLs of the pages stored in the cache and the dates of the latest visits. The design is most clear and presents only the relevant information, and allows easy and fast operation.
