  Summary

  This was an effective programme in the past, even if the interface was tricky to get used to, but now you need to install the advertisers toolbar if you want to proceed with installing dupkiller. I've gone for a highly rated alternative and recommend you do too.

  After comparing this software with other Duplicate file finder softwares on download.cnet.com, I am 100% sure this is the best Duplicate file finder software I found. Why pay for a Duplicate file finder software when you could get a better software for free? I have tested this software with over 20 different other Duplicate file finders and this software is by far the best one. I'm surprised this software is not on the top of the list! This product is free and it works better than some "Duplicate file Finder" softwares that you have to Purchase.

  Pros

  Lots of options / very flexible Easy to use Already deleted over 5 GB of duplicate MP3s Searching when matching by filename, date or size is very fast Uses about 10 MB of RAM to run

  Cons

  Searching when matching by content is a double-edged sword. Using quick comparison makes the search faster, but misses some duplicates. Searching without quick comparison takes forever (88 hours for 26,000 files). Limited to exact matches. Can't match audio tracks if different bit rates or codecs are used (and the file names are different).

  Pros

  Impression about velocity: it take few second to check more than 20Giga of mp3 on a usb external disk. I like interface with a lot of option to make search.

  Cons

  Impossible to make multiple select on duplicate result file: it need cancel one by one. That's not very nice when you have a lot of duplicate file

  Like all such programs it leaves it up to you to pick and choose which files to delete. Being a novice I don't dare delete any, for obvious reasons. Unless your an expert stay away from this one.

  I don't know what that other guy was talking about, but maybe he clicked something wrong in the options. You can select specific folders as deep as you want to go, and set the search and compare options for each item you have checked. Very versatile! Quick install and once opened, the options are very self explainitory and clear. They can be set as basic as you want or as detailed as you want.

  Cons

  This program is not for the average computer user, but for the above average professional/expert. It's very simple, but you need to know what the terms mean so you know what the program is doing, and can do! And it can do a lot.

• No Way to Scan Less than Drive

  I installed it and it came up. <p> <p>I wanted to scan a directory. However I could not find a way to say scan a single directory and subdirectory. Only an entire drive. <p> <p>I limted the search to .jpg images. I searched my drive. It found some 20,000 jpg files. <p> <p>After over an hour the progress bar is barely to the 15 % point and I have to go to bed. The job will obviously take hours. <p> <p>Scanning an entire drive isn't what I need to do. I need to be able to scan subsets, where I know my duplicates are. <p> <p>I had to shut down my computer and don't what the results of the program would have been.

  There's alot of great things with this tool. First it is simple to use, and very very easy to undetstand, it will not cause you headache finding duplicate files like the other payones apps. tha I've tried they make you confused and very hard to understand. The speed is also amazing finds faster than others. The interface is well organized very very user friendly. And the other aspect of application is very easy to understand also. And the result also is great finding duplicate files to ease your HD. And the amazing thing also is it's free. I will recommend it to everybody this tool is GREATGREATGREAT!!!
