Though it lacks some search parameters found in similar applications, DupExplorer saves you some hard disk space. DupExplorer's utilitarian interface offers a step-by-step wizard that walks you through its process. With the wizard, you can create scan profiles based on content, filename, file size, attributes, and date. Browsing and selecting drives or folders to scan are easy, and we like that the program offers to store information regarding scan parameters and location for future use. During our tests, duplicates were returned quickly and listed with the original files. From there, you can launch or delete files. DupExplorer uses file masks that effectively reduce search times. However, more fastidious search methods--such as line-to-line or byte-by-byte comparison tools, or the ability to search for specific filenames--would have been great. Nonetheless, most users will find this 15-day trial program useful for keeping their hard drives free of clones.
