This application encrypts e-mails for secure transmittal, but its numerous steps are taxing. CryptoAnywhere claims to convert your typed message to an unreadable text format, which can then be decoded by the mail recipient even without the software. Its standard interface serves as your e-mail center. Just type your message in the text box, click Encipher Send, and your message is on its way. A user-specified password will serve as the key for the recipient to decode the message. If the recipient doesn't have CryptoAnywhere, they must copy and paste the message to the Windows Clipboard, but it's unclear as to what to do from there. During testing, we successfully encrypted and sent messages but failed to decrypt them. While the program's help menu contains flowcharts with several steps for encryption and decryption methods, we still were left with an unreadable e-mail message. Fewer steps and clearer instructions would prove handy in using this freeware.
