• Nice plugin for Outlook

  Pros

  Not-intrusive, minimalist approach with good useabilty. Lets you bypass complex outlook menus with a single click.

  Cons

  Can be a bit slow adding to punchlist very complex emails with lots of image links, otherwise it works pretty fast.

  Summary

  This small plugin for Outlook lets you take anything in your inbox and send it to "punchlist" - turn it into a to-do task that you can take action on later. Then you take the task from the task pane and drag it to the calendar and it will link the task and the calendar entry. You can even split up a to-do task into multiple calendar entries to divvy it up into sections, and they all link back to the original task. It works like a VCR - you can start a task, stop a task, and "close the loop" - complete the task, and even keeps track of the time you spent on the task. Pretty neat!

  Pros

  Close the Loop provides well-designed productivity software: it does what you want it to do with minimal setup or training. It's simple and powerful, adding timing functionality -- reminders, dates, etc -- to the To Do list feature within Outlook.

  Cons

  Not yet providing software for Outlook 2010.

  Summary

  I've incorporated this into my life immediately. I use it for work reminders mostly, but also for personal matters that need attention at a certain time (but not right now). I spend all day in Outlook and always found the To Do functionality lacking. Close the Loop's software adds deep, rich, simple functionality that doesn't interfere: Creating a Punchlist on the fly, flagging things to deal with later, organizing the things I want to cover, read, respond to, engage with... all with a single click. It does just what I need it to do. Install with confidence.
