• v 2.4 is a massive step forwards

  Pros

  Easy to use for creating backs or just for experimenting with chord sequences, rhythms and styles. Changes can be made as the program works and plays and you can start or restart your sequences at any point. Wonderful for stimulating your imagination and creativity.

  Cons

  The only export options at present are as a midfile, as text or in the programs own format. There is no option to export as wav or mp3. However, if all you need is a copy of your chord patterns for playback purposes, I suggest you use a second program to record your playback. That's what I do using 'Total Recorder'.

  Summary

  This program was always good, but v.2.4 is a huge leap forwards as it has more chords and styles. The way these are listed and categorised is much easier to use. In all respects (apart from the limited export options), this program is an absolute winner. Well done Laszlo.

• Clear, simple and effective!

  Pros

  I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to start composing an arrangement with Chordpulse - what functions were not immediately obvious, I learned after watching 2 minutes of video on the Chordpulse site. For simple and inexpensive software, the editing tools are impressive and powerful.

  Cons

  You have no control over the specific instrument sounds and beats used for accompaniment. They provide a long and varied list of preset styles, but I had trouble finding one exactly right for what I wanted to do, and was frustrated by not being able to create/edit my own.

  Summary

  Overall, a great program - it's perfect for someone who wants a simple tool to create accompaniments without getting deeply involved in a complex program with a steep learning curve.

  Pros

  The Chordpulse program quickly and flawlessly helped me accomplish EXACTLY what I needed - to create backing tracks for my music without having to deal with a complicated interface or individually enter in a ton of notes. The program is extremely intuitive and versatile without being overwhelming. Though the resulting tracks are generated in midi voices, with so many styles to choose from - they're perfect for accompanying my composition and practice sessions.

  Cons

  It'd be nice to have a bit more control over the instrument choices for the different styles.
