Though it lacks the search parameters found in most, this cleanup tool quickly locates and removes duplicate files. Check Identical Files' jumbled interface uses a step-by-step guided process, making it easy to use. Browsing and selecting a drive or folders to scan is simple, and you can create and save the list for future use. Duplicates were returned fairly quickly and placed in a column alongside the original files. You can delete them all, select certain ones, or indicate a specific file extension from the list to single out and eradicate. Throw your clones in the Recycle Bin, delete them permanently, or place them in an archive folder. With all of the options available, it's too bad the program doesn't offer search parameters such as searching for certain file types or for specific filenames. Its 10-day trial is a bit short, but most users will find Check Identical Files useful for keeping their hard drive free of duplicates.

Ultimate aid for cleaning up duplicate files

This software is an incredible aid when you have lots of files with potential duplicates taking up disk space. The program looks through your files, and you can easily have it delete every duplicate it found, just leaving behind one of each. There are also options for selecting which folders it should delete from, if you wish to have more control over exactly which files get deleted.<p>I just ran the program, and had it delete 28GB of duplicate files for me. Those would have been a pain to find and remove manually. I've tested many other similar software, but none as good as this one. I've been using it for several years now, and it has always performed perfectly.
