This program is designed to screen users for symptoms of depression, but we find its request to use the data you input for research purposes bothersome. CESD-R Depression Screening's wizardlike interface features two sets of questions: the short CESD-R20 provides a 20-item questionnaire and CESD-R35 has a 35-item-long setup that includes many of the questions of CESD-R20. The application asks for your name, birth date, ethnicity, and e-mail, although it will work without them. Click the Voice options for questions to be read aloud. To answer each question, click the answer that best describes your emotions. At the end of the test, a graph reflecting your answers in several categories and a meter for measuring depression are displayed. Some of the program's functionality raised a red flag on privacy, however. The program instantly connects to the CESD server without a way to turn this option off and requests to use your personal information for its purposes. While this freeware application asks some key questions in the diagnosis of depression, it's difficult to recommend it due to the aforementioned privacy issues.

Pros
None apparent
Cons
After installing, the program kept wanting me to give it server rights, which I did not want to do foir plain security reasons. Apparently, there is a local version possibility, but there was no information on how to activate it.. Not much help on the web site either. Do not waste your time on this one There are plenty of free depression tests available.
