• Even if it was freeware, it would be overpriced.

  It can be uninstalled.

  You get no customer support and the help files don't give all that much help, so if you need troubleshooting or diagnostics, good luck. Odds are that it won't recognize your modem, regardless of chipset. It certainly didn't recognize my US Robotics or Lucent modems. It doesn't begin recording right away and there is no way to make it start recording. It starts and cuts out when it wants to and even if it does record, it won't play the file. For $50, I'd expect something worthwhile, and since I didn't get it, I'd expect a refund. Guess what else I didn't get.

  Pros

  It worked: poped up caller ID and recorded window at incoming call. This is the third or fourth phone/caller Id software that I've tried AND it is the only one that worked! I was starting to think I had a bad modem.

  On install IT DOES trigger an AVG ad ware warning.

  When installing, AVG complained that the program includes adware: Adware Generic.3.FOE. After ignoring and installing, I could not get it to record a call.

  nice recording options, interface and liked ability to input notes. able to compress files, create disclaimers, on hold music, save and email files.

  Cons

  Did not release the line w/ stop, had to go to release modem. did not record properly all the time especially after hitting hold buttons. would like option to pause recording instead of stop when holding.

  After downloading, I tested it on a call to 411 informtion. I could hear my voice, but not that of the operator unless I really cranked the volume up. I later tested it on several calls and as stated, in playback mode, I can hear my voice with ease, but I cannot hear the response from the other side. <p> <p>At one point I was trying to run a playback, and the Call Corder opened another window and tried to dial out. I have no idea what that was all about. <p> <p>Later that night, my Microsoft Windows Anti-Spyware (Beta) ran a scan and came back with a severe warning that I had spyware tracking software on my computer, all of it in the Call Corder folder. <p> <p>I sent an email to RaysLabs asking about it since they state they do not put spyware on the system. I have not received a response back yet. So I told MS to ignore it for now. <p> <p>But the really big drawback was in my system response times. <p> <p>I have been using AutoCAD on a very important drawing. I use Notepad to write script files to run in AutoCAD and EXCEL to do the calculations. Before I had downloaded and installed Call Corder, I was getting good system response times. Afterwards, my response dropped to 1/3 of what it was, and I had to click multiple times on each program just to get them to open, even though they were already open on my task bar. <p> <p>Very, very frustrating. <p> <p>If the company can offer explanations and fixes, this might be a good program. But I need a working program in place NOW and don't have time to mess around so I have uninstalled it. <p> <p>I am running Windows 2000 Professional on a Celeron 700 with 384 MB of SDRAM, 60GB Hard Drive.

  I installed it on a Win 2000 Pro system. It installed OK but would not run. I got a Lib not Registered error. A 2nd install (with reboot) did the same thing.

  At twice the cost of similar software it worked for two days after registration. No phone support, slow and pretty useless e-mail support. Avoid by all means.
