  Pros

  Author, John Steed updates his software with the latest applications as they emerge in genealogy. A registered/paid version is far more affordable in comparison with all the extras - including great technical help if required from Mr. Steed himself.

  Cons

  Can't think of any - as his software has always surpassed my needs.

  Summary

  I first downloaded his DOS software in '92 before Windows, and have continued updating and purchasing the latest version over these past 20 some years. (Should have kept that large antique floppy disk.) I have tried two other competitive software, but still favor BK. On two occasions, Mr. Steed helped me when it was my ignorance of my computer's hardware - not his program. Where else can one get such pleasant and FREE service?

  Pros

  I have been doing genealogy for 25 years and using BK for 20yrs, I love it. I have tried most of the other programs out there (multiple times) and keep coming back to BK. It is simple, fast, easy to navigate/query/import/export, frequently updated and very economical. Over the years I have had one or two occasions where I have had to contact BK directly for technical support and John Steed (the author) has always been EXTREMELY helpful.

  All of various opportunities as previous versions + some improvements

  Does not show on the screen the specific characters for meddle- and East Europen languages.

  Summary

  I do not reccoment it for use in Middle- an East European countries as lackin to show some of specific character properly on the screen. Stay some versions below.

  Very Flexible and handles files from other sources. Will generate Family Group pages in several languages. Also interface available for other languages.

  Only program I found that easily imported GedcomV4 (made with BK V2.2 in 2000). error free and exported as Gedcom V5.5

  I have no cons for the program but used it only to convert old Gedcom files
