  - Dims screen beyond manufacturers allowed settings - easily restore default/previous brightness setting by pressing ESC - Dims all the way to a BLACK screen

  Summary

  I have a new 24inch iMac (purchased September 2009) & the screen can be EXTREMELY bright at times, especially when I am working with Adobe Creative Suite. This app dims the screen beyond what the iMac can do itself. I dont know why Apple didn't make it so the regular brightness control could go all the way to a black screen - my 13 inch Macbook (late 2007 edition) has the ability, but not the iMac. So download this! You have nothing to lose :)

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I'm glad somebody tackled this annoying oversight by Apple. What would make this truly perfect is the ability to program hot keys (or function keys) to give it the same functionality as a Powerbook (using the F1 and F2 keys).

This little gadget works so fine. I'm running Jaguar 10.2.8 and it works great! Thanks so much! Maybe integrate an option to keep it running or integrate it into the default brightness control- like maybe an extra System Prfs panel? Thanks!

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I was actually looking for something to brighten my monitor above it's current settings (the brightness and contrast are all the way up but the defunct DISPLAY is still too damn dark to be of any practical use beyond games that have extra settings for doing so...), but this program does exactly what it says if you actually read the full description first. Sweet. Might want to have the "Restore" a default button so you can press enter or return to restore just in case.
