• I want Brightfilter to work. A simple web filter using UK classification

  I like the use of the UK classiifcation to filter web content.

  Cons

  Brightfilter's technical support is very poor. Brightfilter does not work behind my ADSL Router and Norton Firewall. Brightfiler acknowledge a problem with Norton but seam unable to resolve the issue.

  The product would not let me do anything, after I made an account. It also blocked my apache server as well. I tried everything to get it to work, but nothing worked. I could not go to any site, not google, not yahoo, not download.com, not even brightfilter.co.uk. What is up with that? I could not delete it either. I ended the process and still could not go to any sites. I had to do pc recovery. So if you are wise do not download it!

• Effective and reliable web filtering

  Pros

  Brightfilter is very easy to install and user friendly. The facility which enables each user's access to be tailored independently is excellent for children of varying ages. I have also found the ability to time restrict access is very helpful. Having used the product for over a month now it seems to be very reliable and has met all of my requirements. The price is very reasonable too!

  Installed quickly. The user interface is no nonsense - I particularly like the cinema-like user classifications. And my family all like the different user icons they can choose...

• Easy to use, reliable software for surfing

  Pros

  With two primary school age children I needed a piece of software that would ensure protection for my children; especially having used filtering that was unreliable before. I also work from home, and needed something that would suit us all. The software is easy to install. It took less than 5 minutes. Having settings for different users is excellent for the children, but also means I can look at what I want! The time settings are useful and seems to help prevent sibling fighting! It is also fast.

  I've only used the product for 3 weeks, but as far as I can see it works excellently.

  Pros

  Brightfilter is really easy to set up. It took me 3 minutes. There are pre-set profiles for the children, who can choose their own icon to use to sign-on and adults can use an 18 profile or create their own from the huge number of filter options available. The fact that from one admin section you can control profiles on more than one machine is a really good feature.

  Cons

  It would be nice to set the software to go to your own homepage when you sign-in. I asked tech support who were really helpful and said that this will be in the next release.
