• Problems in Win8

  PengangkutBajaMarch 18, 2013

  Pros

  Quite a lot of customizability

  Cons

Crashes Win8 Creating a new backup/sync task is rather complex, due to all the options

  Summary

When trying to back up the My Pictures folder, Windows 8 crashed with a blue screen - twice. Also, when setting up the task, I had to type in the folder name, because the Browse to Folder function would not select it. My wife & I had used a prior 32-bit version for several years without complaint. Hopefully this version will get its bugs worked out soon.

• The only software that ever did the job over my network

  lenbabinOctober 31, 2012

  Pros

Lightweight, easy install, lots of configurations. Dependable.

  Cons

License was wonky and I had to deal with tech support. They were okay. Takes a short course to understand all the configs.

• Free feature is enough for backup files

  Albert-33February 5, 2012

  Pros

The free feature is enough for backup local files, and has fewer limitations than other "Free" software. It can filter files by wild card patterns, include or exclude some sub-folders. Even backup all the files that will be deleted or overwritten before synchronization. Advanced features are selectable by select license types.

  Cons

  No dislike

  Summary

  Free, enough

• A feature rich synchronization software

  Alan-97February 1, 2012

  Pros

This software can synchronize & backup local folders with/to FTP/FTPES/FTPS/SFTP/Network drive/USB Drive/NAS/WebDAV/Amazon S3/ZIP achieve. It can also be used to synchronize and backup Outlook email/contact. This software can also encrypt file while coping the file, this is a very important feature when you backup files to public server such as hosted server and Amazon S3 bucket.

  Cons

  No Google Storage support

  Summary

Protect your data by AES 256bit

• Nothing special or new, no remote backup unless you pay

  QPhysicsJanuary 20, 2012

  Pros

  Fast Through Lots of options

  Cons

Lots of options (too many, laid out on too many pages, sometimes you find out only later that in order to turn on the feature you want on this page, you should have checked some option three or four pages back.) No remote backup unless you buy a paid version.

  Summary

If you want to back up to a remote site, you have to pay for one of the premium versions. FreeFileSync does backup to remote and is free. It's no faster or more complete than any number of free options out there. The setup is excruciatingly complicated. Page after page of options, and many of the options require you to go to another page and turn something on or off there then come back.

• Sync Never Fully Completed

  u2rcrazyAugust 15, 2011

  Pros

  It had nice looks

  Cons

Every time I would try to sync between my computer and network drive, it would freeze up. I tried many times with many restarts to no avail.

  Summary

I "Removed" the program and I'm trying another. P.S. Previously I experienced good performance with SyncBack (Freeware), but would like to try others.
