This application helps home brewers track beer production, though its no-frills design isn't very appealing. Beer Designer Pro's basic interface offers six tabs: Recipe, Malt, Hops, Water, Mashing, and Judgement. The process starts with the second tab to select the malt composition, then goes to Hops to choose the bitterness level. The complex Water tab is optional and has multiple fields for calculating water contents and volume. Mashing captures your notes during the brewing process, and the last tab is for notes on the finished product. Once information is entered in the Malt and Hops sections, an entry appears in the Recipe tab and can be saved. You can set ingredient and output preferences under Settings. Though Beer Designer Pro includes a wealth of information on beer styles and ingredients, it doesn't include brewing instruction and you'll need to be familiar with the process. That said, this freeware can help savvy brewers track and manage the brewing process.
