• Not User friendly.

  Has only one Font that I like.

  Cons

  Not User friendly. Has one of the style of fonts that I use on a daily basis when I write MY Daily Letter to MY Fiancee in the Ukraine for the past several years but the new versions of other Word Possessors have removed that Font and some others and most Fonts look the same in many ways with not much difference but the Size and boldness but still the same font as in a different shade of RED.... It is still RED Going from Bold Print to standard one cannot see the difference if there is any???? I change up MY Text when I write MY letter to express different thoughts I want to Express and Stress and this Program does not do this for what I want so I give it a #1 rating.... Nice Try but no cigar!!!

  Summary

  Not worth the time or effort to even try to bother trying to learn and understand..... Too many moves to achieve a single simple task..... I am not easily impressed and this Program did not empress ME!!

• Simple, small program for alphabetically sorting a list

  Pros

  Very cool little program and perfect for sorting a list, which you would otherwise have to use a spreadsheet program or large word processing application. TextEdit should have this feature

  Great little program and I can see why 44,000 have downloaded it. I searched all over the place to find a small program to sort alphabetically.

  Pros

  -small program, quick to start and work i -allows columns -allows caps/lower case! in version 3 (not in version 2) -can "remove styles" easily

  would like keyboard shortcuts for caps etc. but i can add those in mac. no real complaints

  I use it all the time<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Dec 16, 2013<p/>Date &#38; Time Stamp, missing option Actually, I do have one disappointment. I miss the Long Date &#38; Time stamp including Weekday and Time (Thursday, December 10, etc) that was available in version 2. Version 3 allows variations, but no complete one, and none with Weekeday.

• App froze when I added a photo

  Pros

  None that I can think of since it froze on me. I could not center the photo in the document and it just quit on me.

  Cons

  See above. Cannot save file is many various formats such as pdf, jpg, etc.

  Pros

  I switched from TextEdit because I'd had finally enough of Lion's save issues and ridiculous headache-inducing glitchy zoomy animation when opening a file. I'm so glad I did. Love the tabs but also that you can still have separate windows. Love the fact that you have some white space at the bottom of the document so that you're not writing up against the bottom of the screen. Love the full screen option, great for beating procrastination. Adore the simple, no-fuss word and character count. View options - excellent. Love the easy zoom change so I can have things at 12 point as required, but can use zoom to make viewing easier on my small screen.

  Cons

  I have to work out how to get a new document to show how I want it (have changed the prefs?) but that's probably me not Bean.

  Summary

  It's just the little things that make Bean so great for writing reams of text &#38;#8212; I don't care about formatting, I want it down in a simple no-clutter way, and this just works, intuitively and very fast.

  Free, Really fast, Full Screen Mode (no distractions), most formatting is available

  Cons

  - Not COMPLETELY compatible with formatting in full-fledged word processors such as Word, LibreOffice (OpenOffice) - Some formatting features are cumbersome to access

  Summary

  Bean is a great productivity application. If you do note taking, write essays, or write anything that doesn't require a HUGE amounts of formatting, then Bean is a great option! It's not the most compatible word processor on the planet, but its one of the fastest! Opens in no time. Overall, it is a great, lite word processor. NOTE: use the "inspector" if you want easier access to formatting
