This application lets you rename folders and batches of files, but despite its Windows Explorer-like appearance, it isn't as intuitive as you'd expect. Batch File Utility's familiar interface lists files and folders on the left and folder details on the right, with a toolbar offering buttons for Rename, Compress, and Undo. You can also specify attributes such as Hidden or System with simple check boxes. Though you can locate and view folders in Windows Explorer fashion, you have to add files to a Renaming Group before they can be edited. The Batch File Renaming window includes a number of options that let you modify the filename and extension, and, more impressively, let you change case, replace specific characters and strings, modify file attributes and time stamps, and rename MP3 files. Savvier users will appreciate the wide scope of file-renaming options and settings, but even with the help file, most novices will probably find Batch File Utility too complex. Intermediate to advanced users will find this application to be a flexible, effective way to rename batches of files.

A little confusing at first, but after about 5 minutes it will be so easy and effective that you probably would be willing to give your first-born for it. It has great advanced features, which may intimidate the beginner.

In addition, the program can also move or copy files and optionally (batch) compress them. It provides preview and undo option.
