This handy application alleviates the problem of forgotten passwords and PIN numbers by storing and organizing login information. Password Safe's well-designed interface makes it easy to set up multiple user accounts for a wide variety of account information including e-mail logins, bank accounts, and software licenses. It also lets you modify templates to suit your requirements and quickly stores user IDs, passwords, and associated Web addresses in its encrypted database. Password Safe includes an autofill wizard that lets you define a sequence of keystrokes and inserts your username and password information. We greatly appreciate the security options provided in this application, which include a master password, an autolock feature that locks the program after a specific time, and the ability to clear Clipboard contents. Password Safe even provides random hard-to-break passwords using a handy password generator. In our tests, the program successfully launched associated URLs and effectively inserted our login names and passwords. Our only complaint is you need to focus the cursor on the appropriate field before launching the autofill feature. Despite the cost, users of all levels will appreciate the many safeguards and easy-to-use features that come with Password Safe.
