An engaging and challenging role-playing game, Avernum is not without its flaws. The installation is relatively fast and you soon find yourself in a big maze. You control four characters that were banished to the underworld, and you must escape using brains, brawn, and magic. The default resolution for the game will render your heroes too small to be seen, much less maneuvered. The detailed, ever-present tutorial is handy, however; no hero makes a single senseless move without getting a special warning. If you aren't already a fan of role-playing games, your patience may be tested by the amount of time spent walking and wandering in exploration. However, the game is ultimately immersive and really puts you into the world of heroes, might, magic, and power. Avernum will appeal to existing RPG fans as well as beginners with a willingness to learn the workings of this world.

Avernum is a great game... it's HUGE, the storeline is engrossing and prety unique, and it will keep you entertained for ages. Worth the price for the full game.

This game is the most addicting RPG game I've played since Dragon Warrior for Nintendo. Of course, to like the game you'll need to like to think though. This series is highly recommended only if you have many many hours to waste trying to find each and every spell and secret the game has to offer.
This game is worth it, except for losers.

If you're interested in a large, fun RPG, this is the one for you. If you can't stand THINKING or trying to use your BRAIN, you'll hate this game. If you hate this game, you're dumb. But you don't hate this game do you? So that makes you a very smart person. Play it.

I am a crazed Ultima fan, as well as Zelda, and well the list goes on and on. Avernum one and two beats the tar out of them all. Fully functional with mouse or keyboard, the quests are numerous to say the least, and the fun? Whoa! I have been playing Avernum 1/2 for years now, and am looking forward to a pc version of 3. Download it, try it, keep it, get hooked on it forever. Have fun, and keep gameing!

i played avernum 2 at my mate house andit was ok but then i accidetally downloaded avernum 1 and it was even better!!!! get it. Its worth it!!!!!!!
