  1 you can ease remap your fisical keyboard. 2 it does not lost or need any CPU LOAD. (minimal) 3 the best of all is that you can transform [text] to [long text] example ::btw::By the way 4 send any shortcut/text with your fisical keyboard.

  1 you need to learn a little bit about programming.

• A powerful tool

  Pros

  It can perform almost any task you need done. It can free people from repetitive manual tasks.

  Cons

  It's not for the meek, nor the faint of heart. It's not a point-and-click drag-and-drop quick visual tool. You have to learn to program with it.

  Summary

  My experience with AutoHotKey is several years old. But thanks to its capabilities I was able to automate a very manual business process that was taking a person a couple of hours a day, and was error-prone. I not only automated the process, but I was able to reproduce the process on three server-based machines, allowing us to get out from under a several-month backlog, and to improve throughput more that threefold. And frankly, it was fun to program it!

  I don't know since I am not here to learn a whole new bunch of stuff.

  Cons

  Impossible to use without going through a bunch of instructions. Why? I just want a macro recorder, I don't want to have to write scripts etc. I wanted a free macro recorder and was directed here? Right...

  Pros

  AutoHotKey is a highly functional open source macro programming environment with excellent resources including a great IDE (SciTE4AutoHotkey), excellent macro capture (Macro Creator), GUI interface including GUI creator (GUI Creator), code to exe converter (ahk2exe), detailed documentation (@ahkscript.org), excellent tutorials (@autohotkey.com forum and on youtube). And did I mention it is free.

  Cons

  AutoHotKey's high functionality comes with a relatively steep learning curve. Luckily there is excellent documentation, great tutorials (written and youtube) and excellent forms for when you get stuck.

  Summary

  If you would like to automate tasks on your computer with a keystroke or a mouse click, then use AutoHotKey. Due to its relatively comprehensive capabilities, it does come with a somewhat steep learning curve. An excellent IDE, multiple macro capture options, a GUI interface creator, ahk2exe converter, detailed documentation and tutorials will ease the pain. (Early builds of a cross platform AHK complier and a multithreaded AHK .dll for use with other programming languages are available).

  Instead of having to adapt my needs to someone else's software, AutoHotkey_L lets me do it my way.

  Cons

  I can't remember them, but I'm sure there were one or two Cons. Put it this way: most of what I thought were cons turned out to be something I had just not figured out yet - "The learning curve", though I always found ways around whatever problems I encountered.

  Summary

  Sometime around 1990, I completed my final programming job and received my final paycheck. I continued working with computers, consulting, tutoring and developing web sites - especially my own which would grow to over 10,000 pages, to date. The availability of software for almost any endeavor grew exponentially online, so I almost never had a problem finding something that would accomplish whatever task I was getting into. But I did miss my programming. Then, one day in 2010 I discovered a need that no available software could fulfill, to my specifications. I needed to throw selected webcam images on the screen, rename them with the date and a subject, and then distribute them to one or more relative folders according to the subject matter, the idea being that I could quickly and easily find them down the line if and when I might need them for a web page, article or whatever. I needed it fast because my 5 cams were providing me with a fast growing collection of interesting or useful captured shots of visitors; 2 legged, 4 legged, winged, etc. I was renaming and organizing them manually as fast as I could but this ended up taking hours out of each evening of each day with no letup in sight. Somehow I found AutoHotKey_L.exe. Within a few weeks, I had not only learned the well documented language, but I had created the program I needed to accomplish the above. And I felt alive again; doing something I really loved. It was not quite as rewarding as C++, the Assemblies, FORTRAN and COBOL, but it was and is very close. I have since written a number of other programs, including those that create all of my web pages the way I want them much much faster the it used to take me to write the HTML from scratch. My current AutoHotKey project is one that processes a lifetime of 35MM and 2x2, etc. negatives that have been digitized by DigMyPics.com onto DVDs and onto my Google+ site. I love it.

  Pros

  I find AutoHotkey extremely useful for scripting activities and coding keyboard aliases and shortcuts. Initially, the script language can be a bit tricky but once the basics are understood it is very powerful. The program is extremely reliable and has not crashed or interfered with any other activity.

  Cons

  Recording event sequences for playback is not always as simple as I would likee.

  Summary

  A very useful and reliable tool, particularly if you make extensive use of the keyboard for commands.
