Although Windows includes a built-in scheduling utility, Auto Power-on and Shut-down simplifies such tasks. True to its name, the program mainly lets you schedule your PC to start up and shut down at regular intervals. You can configure the application to boot up or shut down your PC on a daily or weekly basis, and you can schedule such events down to the very second. In addition to its main job, the program lets you schedule tasks such as opening a URL or a file, launching a program, playing a sound file, or locking the computer. Auto Power-on and Shut-down also supplies a few nice bonus features, such as tools for saving power and syncing your PC's clock with atomic servers. The utility's clean tabbed interface is a bit sparse for our tastes, but it is logically arranged, and even inexperienced users should get up to speed quickly. We found some of the prompts confusing, though. As in most programs, quitting triggers a confirmation box; however, clicking OK doesn't stop the app but keeps it running in the system tray. But minor annoyances aside, both parents and system administrators will likely find this program a handy addition to their computers.

Summary
My computer died on me. I contacted customer service to find out if the license code can be transferred to my new computer, but no one replied. All I needed was an answer, so I could decide if I needed to purchase a new code. It doesn't matter how good the product is. When you needed support and it's not available, the product is garbage. I researched online and found out a free solution available in each version of Windows. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS. Editor's review is a good reference for the product itself. You should listen to the users because editors do not run into the problems as users do. Good luck!

I bought this software about a year ago and now that I changed computer system, my software has to be re-register again. I emailed the company 4 times with no response. Their solution is for me to buy again? You can use Winmend Auto Shutdown for FREE. Don't waste your money or time with this company. You'll regret it!

Don't waste your good hard earned money with this software. I bought this software about a year ago and when I changed computer, they require me to re-register. I contact the company 4 times with no reply. They are only interested in getting your money and then you are on your own. Do not buy. Winmend has similar features and is free!!!

Works great with my Windows 7 system. My new motherboard's BIOS doesn't have scheduled power-on, so I tried this program - works perfectly to Hibernate and then Power-on my PC.

Does not work correctly all the time. Can't uninstall the software completely and no support.
Summary
I'm experiencing the same problems as other users such as Wolters3, cneteek, j_thoroughly, etc. So, the problem is definitely with the software. Feel like being ripped off. This software should not be allowed to be sold. I don't understand why it received such high mark from CNET staff, I suggest they re-evaluate it for a longer period of time.

Unreliable. I installed the software in 5 Windows XP SP3 computers, none of them works correctly after a few weeks. The software will power on the computers at unscheduled time, did not hibernate the computers at scheduled time reliably.

The software is completely unreliable. I should have evaluated the software longer before making the purchase. Don't expect to receive any support if you do run into problem even if you are a paid customer. I consider the money down the drain. I had e-mailed the support several times and were being ignored. I finally had to tell them I probably had to submit a review based on my experience, they finally replied, the only suggestion and response that they had was to download the latest software and that they could not reproduce the problem. When I replied I had the latest software installed and asked for further help, I never received any reply. So, don't waste your money, stay away. Wish I had read some of the reviews before making the purchase. The program gave me more headache than help.

It prevents the monitor from turning off and removes the windows password protected login. Worse, both of these effects remain after the uninstall process.

Summary
I bought this a week ago and first it looked really promising and did indeed woke up and put my PC into hibernation. But since this first "lucky" event, I have not manage to get it to do what it is supposed to do. Even if I schedule a daily task and tell it to put the computer into hibernation and to wake up a certain time later, it does not. Even worse is that I cannot get any answers from the support!!!

Trojan tries to install when registering. Nobody responds mails reporting the problem with registering.
Summary
The features are very useful, but Trojans in registration procedure are of course not acceptable. No response to the mails asking for checking this and helping to register SAFELY is also not acceptable. Better to loose 25 USD then put the system to risk !!! My rating would be high (4 or 4 stars), if not the problems I mentioned.
Do not download. Has trojans galore in it.

Absolutely no pros. Unfortunately I had to give it a star because cnet system would not allow me to comment without. Actually should be no star.
Cons
Extremely disappointed in cnet for allowing a program like this to be on your website. McAfee caught over 10 trojans before I just stopped the installation. Please be more responsible cnet since you even state that this program is spyware free.
