Split large MP3 audiobook and podcast files into smaller ones.
Audiobook Cutter is an easy-to-use tool which splits large MP3 audiobook and podcast files into smaller ones without re-encoding. The main purpose of this MP3 splitter is to make audiobooks more manageable in a user-friendly way. Long audiobook recordings can be cut with just a few clicks. Please note that automatic silence detection is available in the Pro edition only.
I USED TO to love this product when it was free. It WAS great and did everything I needed to split audioboooks in areas of silence.
Cons
The free product NO LONGER DOES WHAT IT SAYS IN THE DESCRIPTION. It only divides segments by time, not silence detection. You are required to purchase the Pro version which costs almost $28 U.S. I've ordered it and am still waiting for DL link. Sigh.
Summary
The CNET description IS NOT ACCURATE. The free version WILL NO LONGER create split points determined by silence detection. You must buy the Pro version for almost $28 U.S.
FEATURES ARE NOT AVAILABLE IN FREE VERSION

Pros
Free version works great if you cut the file at fixed intervals.
Cons
The "silence detection" feature described is only available if you pay for a PRO version.
Summary
Not bad, but I don't have a use for false advertisers.
Useful app for audio book readers.

Cons
What's not to like.

Demo version is useless

Pros
Nothing. This demo version is completely and utterly useless.
Cons
You can't use it, so you can't test it.
Summary
I did a lot of digging- and I found version 0.75 of this program. That version was created under the GPL and is *really* free. It isn't fancy, and doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but it got the job the job done and was very simple to use. 0.75 is also standalone- which means you don't have to install it, just extract it and use it. I used it to split 3 huge MP3 files, and it worked quite well. It uses a "detect silence" algorithm so it doesn't split files in mid-sentence like other programs do.
it works like a charm

Pros
so many to name...very user friendly
Cons
less limitations would help more people to buy it
Summary
this program is the best thing ever!
Newest version severely handicapped

Pros
Looks like it would work as promised, if you bought the Pro version
Cons
Definitely isn't "no limitations"
Summary
When installed via the CNET link, the program directs you to get an updated version (as of this date, 1.4). The latest FREE version will only handle 10 minutes worth of mp3 data before it prompts you to buy the Pro version (at about $25). Since I was looking to split hour-long audiobook tracks into more manageable chunks, this definitely won't work for me. Too bad, as it seems to be the only one that uses a handy silence-finder algorithm.
Works just like it says perfectly.

Pros
It runs directly from an .exe , you don't even have to install it. It split a 5 hour mp3 audio book into 10 minute chunks in about a minute. Sound quality exactly the same.
Cons
The free version does not inlcude ID3 tags. Files are named "Track 001, Track 002" etc. There are track ID3 tags. Everything else is blank.
