AttributeMagic Standard utility simplifies the process of changing file/folder attributes, last modified date, creation date, last accessed date. Utility can process a whole directory tree (or certain branch). Features include explicitly set new date-time, relative date-time modification, change attributes of files and folders and process one file, folder or a group of files, and folders and subfolders.
I've used AttributeMagic Free and Standard for years, and it's always been the most powerful and practical date changer tool for my purposes. Until recently, I was using an older version which did not have automation, and always wished that it was more convenient to use. It's as though the developer read my mind. Ver. 2.5 is super quick and convenient, and as automated for my various uses as I could wish. One example: To keep track of online purchases, I have hundreds of folders with names like "Touch Dimmer 092511" or "Staples Rebate 012912". The date within the name is the Modified Date, by which I keep them sorted. If I copy or move the parent folder to a new location or drive, all the Modified Dates get changed to the current date, so I can no longer sort them. With no scripting, using an easy to follow menu, AM Standard 2.5 was able to extract the dates from every folder name and set the proper Modified Date - with no errors.
Cons
I don't have any Cons for this version.
Summary
I recently started keeping the above-mentioned folders in DropBox, which does not disturb the dates on the host PC, but changes them on all the clients. I can't express how relieved and pleased I am to be able to correct them all in an instant. This tool does that, and every other attribute management task I've tried, with equal aplomb.
The developer provides a great on-line tutorial, and moreover, whenever I've had questions over the years about how to do something, I've always received a very prompt and helpful reply.
I'm a fan.
