For all advances in computing technology over the past decades, the simple clock remains one of the most consistently useful tools. AlfaMini expands on the built-in Windows clock, adding a timer and a stopwatch, and the rather more exotic seconds-before-New-Year countdown. We were disappointed to see it did not provide an alarm-clock feature, however. The simple program requires no installation, and allows some limited customization of display elements, such as text color and clock transparency. But on the whole, we saw little that would make this download stand out among the numerous other free clock programs available.
I don't like programs I cannot delete from my Setup. I don't see this one in setup. Makes me think like its a rogue program. Not sure what impact that will have on my computer.
Summary
Full featured? I think not!
TornadoKat
Pros
1. No install required, just run the exe file.

2. Small, can be made semi-transparent, always on top, run in system tray.
Cons
1. Countdown timer only has 6 time options- 5, 10, 15, 30, 60, and 120 minutes.

2. When I pick a countdown time, say 5 minutes, the display starts at 12:05:00 and counts down... 12:04:59, etc...

3. I let it run the 5 minutes and it did appear to think the 5 minutes were up because it started counting 12:00:01, 12:00:02, etc. BUT IT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING! No sound, no popup, no flashing icon.

4. Cannot change size of window or readout and it's too small im my opinion.

I'm searching for a good countdown timer... this one wouldn't even make a decent runner-up.
