Aikin is GREAT!!!

Pros
I lost an important email and was not able to find it in the Outlook search engine, however Aikin came to the rescue and found it right away. I called tech support and got friendly and very helpful suggestions.
Cons
I wish that Aikin could also give me the source folder to make it easier to find out where the email resided. I had to do a little searching to find this part out. Not a real problem, just would make is easier. It is my understanding that

I highly recommend this product if you do any kind of research on your personal computer.

Pros
Similar to other reviewers, good results seem to end up on top of list. I'm impressed by its ability to find other potentially related information that isn't written exactly the same. For example I tested its "fuzzy" content search by looking for a document I had with text in it about the Hubble Telescope, but I misspelled it as "Hubel Teliscope", and it found the document instantly, was about 2 items down and told me the words it found and how close together they were. That was really neat. I also really like the way they made it so you get quick previews of documents when you click on them instead of taking up a bunch of my visual space with an always open preview pane, but you can pin the preview pane open if you want it open all the time. Lastly, I tried the gesture based "context views" they talk about on their website and that was very neat as well since you can look at the context of items quickly and it automatically finds similar and related items for you.
Cons
Not a lot so far. The UI is not very flashy.
Summary
Graphically, the app is plain, but its extremely fast. It loaded quickly and indexed my items very quickly as well. The results I've been getting have also so far been very impressive. It definitely feels "easier" to find things as I'm not spending so much time now worrying about how I type something in and correcting typos.

I've been using this for a few weeks and LOVE it! Here's an example of why: Today I needed to access an archived financial document which I haven't touched in close to 2 years. Because it's been so long, I couldn't remember where I'd stored it, or even the exact name. Normally this would mean manually searching through my archived folders to search for that one file. Instead, I opened Aikin, typed in a single key word, and BOOM there it was - number 3 on the search results. It took me seconds to find, instead of easily taking 15 - 20 minutes. The only complaint I have (and the reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars) is that it doesn't work with 32 bit OS, so I can't use it at work where I REALLY need it!

Pros
Works quickly. Precise and crisp results. Its ability to find what you are looking for, even if spelled incorrectly, will stun you at first and then it gets fun. Free of bloated clunky features, addware and chattiness.
Cons
None noticed so far.
Summary
I see great potential for this app; Lawyers, Doctors, Scientists, Academics, and anyone else who has a large pool of information that needs to be rapidly sifted for specific pieces of information.

Pros
I can find emails and documents by typing keywords that are not exactly spelled correctly. It finds search results instantaneously among thousands of emails and documents. Aikin's user interface is simple and easy to use. I don't need to read the user's guide to start using it. It's very easy and quick to install. I like the email preview window that saves my time.
Cons
None. I haven't found anything negative about it.
Summary
This is the best desktop search tool I've ever used. I will recommend it to my friends and co-workers.

Pros
Installed quickly Scanned my items REALLY quickly. 20K files in what seemed like 1-2 mins, and my contacts and favorites were showing up immediately. The user interface is neat. I liked how it separated items from folders and keyword and content results. I've had to work really hard to try and figure out how to fool this thing into giving me the wrong answer... but however I misspell and mess up searches it still seems to find the thing I'm looking for without having to go back and change my search. That's really extraordinary. It also more frequently than not brings the relevant items to the top. I was a little skeptical of the examples they give on their website about finding things like contacts from heavily mispelled searches, but it works really well. It has a unique way of showing the context for various folders and items that is really interesting and generally seemed a lot easier than the windows file system approach to digging through folders.
Cons
You have to pay for it, but I guess that when people take a lot of time to build something of quality its inevitable.

Fast, accurate, and REALLY smart at providing relevant answers. Searches folder names as well as file names. Easy on the eyes, simple and straightforward Includes search bar inside Outlook... love it
Cons
None yet, but have only used for the last few hours, so until I know more I'll only give it 4 stars for first impressions.
Summary
This does a really good job at finding my emails and contacts, something I'm greatful for, and just feels "easy". The way it proactively helps you through email queries is very cool.

I can type things in so many different ways and still find the item Not a resource hog No adware Indexes all my favorites from IE and Chrome Indexes Outlook items including archives I had loaded into Outlook Easy install Indexes fast No crashes... very stable
Cons
UI is pretty plain, but hey its a search app... wish it did facebook, twitter, and newsfeed search.
Summary
This is by far the fastest and most accurate search engine for the desktop I've ever used. Wow.
