Anyone who works with digital images or other files that tend to get organized by date knows that sometimes things can run amok; why are last month's vacation photos showing up with images from 2001? Whether the dates have been changed by some technological error or you have some other reason to adjust the Created, Modified, and Accessed dates of a file, File Date Changer makes this task a snap.

File Date Changer does exactly what the name implies, and nothing more; if you need to edit a file's metadata, this program isn't going to do it. The program's interface is straightforward, with buttons for selecting files and menus that let users change the dates and times that the files were created, modified, and last accessed. A check box lets users enable or disable each of these, so if you need to change the date the file was created but not the date it was modified, for example, that's no problem. File Date Changer supports batch processing, a very handy feature when you have a whole bunch of files that need to have their dates changed. There's no Help file, but there's really no need for one, either; the program is extremely easy to use, and anyone who understands the concept of changing a file's dates to begin with should have no trouble figuring it out. We tried File Date Changer with both individual files and batches of them, and we encountered no problems; the program quickly changed the dates and times of our files as instructed. We think File Date Changer is a great program to have around for when file date issues crop up, which they almost inevitably do at some point.

Not a great file modifier

Changes the filenames to a certain extent
Cons
The modifier produces pixelated file names, dates and descriptions.
Summary
Basically wanted to modify a bunch of filenames and started playing around with it. The modified names were pixelated and didn't look authentic. Definitely better modifiers out there.
Date Field Becomes Blank

Cons
Cannot read in existing date/time stamp. Cannot easily change only one parameter, such as month or day or year. *** Was working great. After using utility for some time, date field becomes blank in Windows File Explorer. "Created", "Modified", & "Access" date show modified parameters in file properties but not in Windows File Explorer. Strange one.

It doesn't solve my problem at all.
Cons
I wrongly set my camera to April while it should be June. I just need to change the month, not the whole hours/minutes/seconds. It cannot retain the original timestamp. I can't use it at all.

I'm not sure how many legitimate uses there are for this program- but I certainly can find a lot of uses for it. LOL. Before I found this program I tried two other date changer programs with limited success. The first one wouldn't work at all with my computer (Windows 7, 64-Bit), it just didn't do anything. The second one I tried would change the dates successfully, but doing a lot of files at once would bog down my system (but just for a few seconds). To write a better review I actually did a quantitative comparison between the two programs. I altered the date created, date modified and last accessed attributes of all the files in the "My Music" folder; ~250 items. The results were: Other software: 9 seconds This software: Less Than 1 Second (Instantaneous) In my opinion this software is the best of the ones I tried, in terms of efficiency, easy of use and compatibility.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Jun 11, 2011<p/>I wanted to see what the limit was, so I just tested a batch of 1,800 1KB .txt files.
