• Astonishingly good noise removal plugin

  Pros

  Easy to use. Fast, low latency real-time adaption to changing background noise. Hardly any artifacts, low CPU usage and low latency.

  Cons

  I didn't see any negatives really.

  Summary

  I tested a ton of VST plugins which at the moment I use for real-time broadband noise removal to remove fan noise and air condition noise from a microphone input. I tested many plugins which cost a multitude more, I won't list all of them here. The Acon VST is really astonishingly good and I think it gives the best overall result with minimal artifacts from the noise removal. In addition to this it is VERY easy to use. The best feature is that I can activate the "adaptive noise profile" option and there is no notable delay in processing. In comparison, if I use the Izotope RX2 VST and set it to "adaptive" it makes real-time processing almost impossible. With the Acon plugin I simply have this activated and I don't see any latency issues or whatsoever. I have to say I have not tested this in a DAW yet, eg. applying to an entire waveform or piece of music as a way to restore old audio etc... but from what I see with my tests using Vsthost and real-time broadband noise removal in my microphone chain this is a VERY good plugin especially for the price. In fact I use that now over plugins which cost many times more, some of them $1200. I have not tested the other modules (de-hum, de-click etc.) yet...but as said the noise-removal plugin alone is worth the price already.
