Pros
It seems a very easy to use program. After copying rawdisk.sys to %windir%\system32\drivers\rawdisk.sys you just type: rawdisk k m If you USB disk is called k:\ and you can then use \\?\m: to have raw access to k:\
Cons
But strange enough when I read from \\?\m: the size of the disk is the same as that of \\?\k:, but the content is that of my harddisk partition \\?\c:. So in principle it is a usefull program, but it contains a very dangerous error!

 Updated on Jun 25, 2010I made a mistake. In reality it shows the beginning of my first hard drive: \\.\PHYSICALDRIVE0

Pros
I only found two drivers for raw disk reading/writing. The second is Eldos RawDisk which is not free. The good thing is IT IS FREE.
Cons
I cannot find any description or example how to use included .sys file within my C++ or C# application. The bad thing about any software is lack of usage information and the most worst thing is missing usage information.

Modify data on the local computer's hard drive directly.

This is a utility for administrator to access the raw disk. Like DskProbe, it allows a user with Administrator privileges to directly modify data on the local computer's hard drive. Data structures such as the Master Boot Record, partition tables, and partition boot sectors can be edited directly. Because these structures are not considered a part of a file system, they are not accessible through any other applications currently available. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.
