• Not free.After a year they bill you thru a third party.

  Summary

  Free was good because we hardly used it. Bur when Prilus billed us $49.95 and both Prilus and McGruff refused to refund our money, well I don't trust a company to look after children when they don't look after their supposed customers.

  Limited usefulness.

  Cons

  McGruff is just in it for the money, available options are severely limited and are available only when you pay a substantial amount to upgrade. Rich people can afford to protect their kids, the rest of us, well hell no!

  Summary

  Useful to a point, McGruff should be less greedy for the almighty dollar.

  It does not let you see passwords without upgrading and also only displays the keystrokes in upper case lettering.

  Summary

  If your looking for just a basic keylogger then this might be all you need but did not do the trick for me!!!

• Brilliant program, lots of features

  Pros

  I?ve tried MANY progs and this is definitely the best, it?s ease of use is great, you can see how long your child has been on the PC, what sites they?ve visited, how many chat?s they?ve had, if any passwords have been ?grabbed?. Excellent!

  Cons

  Some of the information is only accessed by upgrading, but to be fair you can still see a lot of info in the free version. Compared to other prog's of this kind I would say McGruff gives far more info than other's.

  Summary

  All info is via their website, so you can use any computer, anywhere, to see what has been accessed on the 'monitored' computer. The homepage is nicely set out, icons along the top row; Home, Chat, Emaill, Other Activity, Alerts, Violations, Usage, Control, Community & Upgrade. Down the left hand side are; Settings, Join us on FaceBook, Read the Blog, Stay informed, Get help, Kidsaurus, Download again & Get cell phone alerts. They glean so much info such as websites visited, times, user, passwords grabbed, chat conversations, what chat prog's they monitor, some needs the full upgrade to access (what is in the chat convo's) but it's nice if you want to check how long your child has been 'on' the PC for, rather than how long they 'tell' you they've been on! All in all it is a WONDERFUL program that if I could afford the $119 for a lifetime membership I would do so in a heartbeat - as you then get access to ALL activity from when you started using the program, not from when you pay! Brilliant! Also if you recommend a friend and they enter your friend code (mine is 60361) for their one week's usage you'll get one months full access. You can enter codes once you've logged in then click the 'get it for free' link. This seems to be the only way to enter a code?! If you find this review helpful I'd appreciate you using my friend code!!! Thanks!

  Excellent, consistant customer service, user friendly website.

  Cons

  Latest version having issues monitoring Facebook chats. Techs have been working on a "fix" for months.

  Summary

  Great for monitoring IM chats, web activity, grabbing passwords, sending you daily reports. If you're looking for a software to monitor Facebook chats you might want to look elsewhere.

• Works on XP, But had Vista problems

  Pros

  Does what it said it would, and works great with windows XP. Works well considering it is FREE! Works better then a similar program I had to buy to monitor my laptop that runs on Vista.

  Cons

  Couldn't install it on my Laptop that runs Vista, so I had to find another program that works on Vista.

  Summary

  I couldn't make up a user name durring the install, BUT if you go to the web site GoMcGruff dot com and creat an account first, then you can just log in durring instulation and it installs with no problem. The site is kind of picky about your user name and password though, so it might take you a few tries to find one it will except! Other then that the program works great and gives you tons of info (including your child's user name and password) on your child's recent searches, adultfriend finder, IM, eMail, Chats, myspace, facebook, yahoo, msn.........it covers almost all of the major social places your child will be on so you can monitor what they are up to.
