Summary
I managed to connect .lnk file type with a text editor, which caused all kinds of mischief. One click with this tool fixed it. (I tried exporting a known-good .lnk registry key from a different account and importing it to the broken account, but that didn't fix the problem.)

DOES WHAT IT SAYS, YOU CAN CHOOSE ALL OR JUST ONE. WORKS PERFECTLY WHEN YOUR FILE ASSOCIATIONS ARE MESSED UP FROM A VIRUS (MY INFECTION WAS "WINDOWS POLICE PRO" THIS RESOLVED MY PROBLEM OF NOT BEING ABLE TO DOUBLE CLICK FOLDERS OR DRIVES TO OPEN)

AFTER USING "MALWAREBYTES" TO SCAN MY COMPUTER, I FOUND THAT I HAD BEEN INFECTED WITH "WINDOWS POLICE PRO" VIRUS. AFTER REMOVAL, I THOUGHT EVERYTHING WAS FINE, BUT SOON REALIZED I COULD NO LONGER DOUBLE CLICK ON FOLDERS, DRIVES, ETC. TO OPEN THEM, I HAD TO RIGHT CLICK AND CHOOSE "OPEN" INSTEAD. EVENTUALLY I FOUND THIS AMAZING PROGRAM THAT DID THE HARD WORK FOR ME. INSTEAD OF MANUALLY EDITING THE REGISTRY THAT WAS TAMPERED WITH BY THE VIRUS (WHICH I'M NOT COMFORTABLE WITH) THIS PROGRAM ALLOWED ME TO PRETTY MUCH RESET ALL OF MY FILE ASSOCIATIONS WITH A SIMPLE CLICK. SINCE I DIDN'T KNOW WHICH ONES NEEDED FIXING, I SIMPLY CLICKED EACH ONE AND AFTER A COMPUTER RESTART, ALL IS BACK TO NORMAL!!! THIS PROGRAM IS WHAT TONS OF PEOPLE ARE NEEDING RIGHT NOW, I'M SURE OF IT. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT IT!!! THANK YOU FILE ASSOCIATION FIXER!!!!
