• Cannot get program to open after installing

  Program will not open after installation. Computer will run "shutting down" until I unplug it. Never did this before installing version 12.1.

  Summary

  Several months ago I was experiencing difficulties with my v.10--small things like changing box events to banner events, so I ordered a copy of v.12.1. My old program was working more nearly as it should have, so I delayed installing v,12.1 until yesterday. Installation and restart was apparently normal, but upon trying to open and run the newly-installed v.12.1, I received the following error message from Creator: "The configuration file C:\Program Files\Calendar Creator\AGB\Startup.cfg does not match C\Program Files/Calendar Creator\CCSku.DLL -- cannot continue." I tried reloading the original v.10, and received the same error message. Any suggestions?

  Pros

  makes nice calendars automatically updating ages/years and I could add pictures to each page. and I've used it in older versions for years.

  Cons

  It no longer works--probably due to extras they have added. It crashes without saving, is slow--especially the pictures. The instructions require changes to my computer--but the instructions are incorrect.

  Wish I had seen this review earlier!! Don't waste your money.

• I am a long time program user, vers 4, 8, 9 and now 12.

  Pros

  Version 12 works much the same as Ver 9. Both have their warts, some warts are the same in both. You know them and you work around them.

  Cons

  Unable to get the Daylight Saving time event to work properly in Ver 12. It needs more generic plain calendar layouts. I was finally able to get my Ver 9 layout to work. That layout did not appear in the list of layouts.

  Summary

  I was worried about upgrading to Ver 12 but I had to upgrade due to the purchase of a Win 7 laptop. I had read the thread about incompatibilites with previous versions. My Ver 9 event files read in without a problem. I doubt if I will use any of the net related features. I up and running without any known problems. I wish they would fix it so the calendar scrolls with a wheel mouse. The event list window scrolls; why doesn't the calendar window? I haven't tried to access the picture files, they were always slow in the previous versions. Overall I would say I am happy with Version 12. As a longtime program user I was worried about going without Calendar Creator in Win 7.

  None that I can think of.

  Cons

  I used CC to maintain a Family calendar with birthdays and ages. When I decided to upgrade they said NONE of my user files were forward compatible with this new version. I would have to start from scratch, re-keying all that name and birth date data.

  Summary

  Broderbund is the SoupNazi of software. I wouldn't spend another second on their crapware, other than to warn others to stay away from it.

  Lots of options and variables for customizing calendars

  Incredibly slow. Many of the options for customizing don't work.

  Summary

  Could not print individual pages of a calendar. Strange behavior with my printer default settings. The only way to change the printer is to change the default printer. The customization options only caused the program to crash or malfunction. Do not buy from this company!

  Company ignores e-mails for HELP ! They're answers have nothing to do with <p>the questions !! JACK-ASS COMPANY !!!! <p>Registered WRONG version of software <p>Will NOT load ! Registered with NO key number available in software defective. <p>They have your money and are laughing all the way to the BANK ! <p>Use Windows WORKS Calender, works fine, has good options !
