This freeware aims to help you catalog your DVDs, CDs, and CD-ROMs. Though the installation itself is quite fast, launching CDTree Standard produces many notices, start-up tips, and nag screens promoting the Pro version. To catalog your CD collection, you either insert and scan all the disks one after another or manually enter the information. If you patiently scan all your CDs, you can avoid duplication when shopping for new ones and spot gaps in your library. You can classify entries in your collection into several categories, including Data, Games, and Music Albums. However, CDTree Standard is not that easy to use. Although you can manually add and edit information within the program, you might be better off doing the work in Microsoft Excel. However, if you're a collector who doesn't already have a cataloging program, you might as well try this free program.

CDTree is an easy-to-use, efficient, and powerful media-cataloging tool. It will let you catalog and categorize CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, hard disk directories, floppy disks, Zip drives, DVDs, and audio CDs for offline browsing. It also catalogs the contents of ZIP files and presents them in an intuitive way. The tool also can recognize if a CD has been scanned before and thus avoid duplication.
