BeKey Virtual (On-screen) Keyboard

Editors' Review

by   / November 02, 2014

If you are unable to use a traditional keyboard, BeKey provides a virtual alternative on your monitor. Instead of typing on your keyboard, you'll use your mouse to select keyboard buttons that appear on your screen.

Pros

Layout and display: The virtual keyboard is laid out exactly like a regular keyboard. It appears as large as it needs to be functional, without intruding on your screen real estate.

Predictive typing: The keyboard attempts to predict the word that you're trying to type as you go and displays several good options along the top of the keyboard. The single mouse clicks greatly speed up typing.

Customizable layouts: BeKey has multiple language and layout options. You're not locked into the typical QWERTY layout, and can customize a number of the features of your virtual keyboard.

Cons

No manual resizing: It would have been nice to be able to adjust the virtual keyboard size based on what app we were using, instead of its being stuck in a single configuration. There is a setting for adjusting width, but not height.

Bottom Line

BeKey is a functional, customizable virtual keyboard. The predictive typing feature makes typing quick and easy, even without the help of a normal keyboard.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of BeKey Virtual Keyboard 1.5.8.3.
