123 Outlook Express Backup for Windows

This application effectively backs up Outlook Express, but standard features are locked during the trial period. As its moniker suggests, 123 Outlook Express Backup only backs up and restores your Outlook Express messages, accounts, address book, message rules, blocked senders list, and signatures. It gets off to a good start with a wizard that guides you through the process of data backup and restoration.

The program did fairly well in backing up and restoring Outlook Express files. Unfortunately, it wasn't able to backup or restore the blocked senders list and signatures since these items are locked during trial. The program also has the ability to secure backup files with a password and schedule a backup at every system startup; again, these features are only available in the full version. We also found it inconvenient that Outlook Express had to be closed during backup or restoration procedures. All things considered, light users of Outlook Express may benefit from this 21-day trial program, but others may want a more full-featured backup tool.
