Mount CD or DVD images by clicking at the image files in Windows Explorer.
WinCDEmu is an open-source software that allows mounting CD/DVD images. It supports both Windows XP and Vista, and is open-source. Each mounted image will be represented by a separate virtual CD device. To unmount an image, double-click the corresponding file in Explorer again, or simply eject the corresponding CD drive using the context menu.
You can choose default drive letter or drive letter each time.
Cons
Uninstall has left traces in Program Files folder + registry + context menus. The are also BazisVirtualCD.sys error message.
Summary
Not worth the trouble.

Long time user

Pros
Fast and easy mounting of many image file types
Stable
Option to keep drive letter after reboot
Option to disable autorun for a specific drive
Small install file and quick download
Efficient and easy install
No bundled software
Cons
In older versions installation was a bit of a pain, disabling driver signing by putting Win 7 in test mode, regedit to keep test mode even after reboot, etc.
The version I just installed, though, was quick, easy, painless, a huge improvement over a software that was already so good it was definitely worth the trouble of installation.
Summary
This is a great program for anyone that wants to store disc image files, it is so useful that it should be a part of the OS, absolutley a necessity if you ever download image files, you can test them without burning, or never burn them at all!
A Great Alternative to DAEMON Tools, Virtual CloneDrive
keithdn
Pros
Wicked easy to use; no bloat; works on Windows XP, Vista and 7, both x86 and x64; does not occupy a drive letter when no images are mounted; mounts almost any type of image file; portable version available; completely free and open source, licensed under the LGPL.
Cons
Missing some of the advanced features available in Daemon Tools and Virtual CloneDrive.
Summary
WinCDEmu is quite probably the simplest solution for accessing an image file (ISO, MDS, etc.) without the hassle, and waste, of burning it to a disc first.
Great simple product
ngayanp
Pros
1)Mount virtual drives
2)Lets you mount basically an unlimited number of virtual drives
3)Creates ISO Images (although I use only the "FOLDER2ISO" program for this, which is also free)
4) Supports a number of formats such as "ISO, CUE, NRG, MDS/MDF, CCD, IMG"
Cons
It doesn't not have advanced features that paid programs such as "Alcohol" have
Summary
It may have very limited options for advanced users however, I mainly use this as a virtual drive, and it is perfect for me as I mainly mount virtual drives.
I tried using one of the Alcohol programs, however the interface was too complicated for me (I knew what to do but only needed 1 feature - mounting virtual drives)
For mounting virtual drives this is a great program as this task can be accomplished in just 2 clicks
